Increase space size in essential graphics (double spacing)

Explorer ,
Jan 02, 2023 Jan 02, 2023

When I transcriped videos manually I always double spaced for readability with my chosen font, but now that I am using the autio caption --> essential graphics workflow, I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to increase just the size of the empty spaces. There's a lot of text options like kerning and leading but they're all for the overall font. Is there a way to just increase the space between words?

Tsume was the parameter I was looking for. However, it caps at 100, which was still not enough for my purposes so I spent a day downloading fonts trying to find the right one. So for anyone else with this issue, max out Tsume and look for a font with "condensed" or "narrow" in the name.

Yes, there are options to increase the space between the words or a single word just double-click on the text to select it you can select a single word also and drag the "Tracking" button under the  Essential graphics > Edit > Text, to increase or decrease. The space between words you want.Screenshot 2023-01-02 at 2.15.05 PM.png

But Tracking doesn't only affect the spaces, it would also make the spacing between the letters of the words larger as well.

In Suraj's image, to the right, is a double-stacked A icon ... that is the Leading control. Which is space between lines. Pr has always had both kerning (space between letters) and Leading (space between lines) controls.

Right, but neither of those is what I need. I'm asking about space between words. The literal "space" from spacebar.

openclosed,

I think from your description, you want two spaces between each WORD, but regular spaces between letters. I think that would be a feature request.

I wonder if After Effects has an option. I believe it could do it with expressions or scripts, but I have never done it.

I'm also wondering if you could do it with an srt export using regex in Notepad++ or similar. Then reimport.

I think you are also saying that you are using Speech to Text to get the text from the audio, then Convert Captions to Graphics to get them into regular graphics items.

I don't share your view that this makes the text more user-friendly, but I haven't tried it - and in any event, I'm all for finding a way to do anything you can imagine!

AE example. This would need a method to set the value for multiple instances.
