iPhone footage in a sequence not visible in the program (edit) monitor when static

Hello all

I'm editing on my old MacBook Pro with iOS 12.6.7 (Processor : 2.7 Ghz Quad Core Intel Core i7) in Prem Pro 2023 (version 23.6.0) & have imported footage shot on my iPhone XS (iOS 16.6.1) in the H.264 codec. I used the Moment Pro Camera app when shooting & recorded in 1080P (the highest res available as I reversed the camera's view so I could film myself).

My problem is that whilst the footage is visible in static mode in the Source monitor, that is not the case when looking at the footage in the Program Monitor. It is however visible in play mode in the Program Monitor.

I have hunted around for answers & consequently have deleted the Project's media cache files. That made no difference.

Can anyone explain why I'm having this issue & how I can fix it? Would be very much appreciated!

Cheers

Please go to Adobe Customer Service (Make sure to sign in to your Adobe account first and allow popups and cookies on your browser. You may not be able to see the chat window if using a VPN.):

Type "Agent" in the chat box to bypass the chatbot and be connected to a person and then ask to be connected to the video queue.

I'd try transcoding the iphone footage to prores constant frame rate using shutter encoder and see if that solves the problem.  Try it with one problematic clip and if that works, you can batch transcode and unlink from the iphone footage and relink to the prores material without having to re-edit...

Hi Peru Bob, I've done as you suggested but no joy.

Another thing I just tried was rendering a small section in my timeline. That resulted in the vision of that little section not being visible, even in Play mode!

Can you suggest anything else? ... or alternatively, how do I get some one from Adobe to solve this for me?

Thanks

Please use the free MediaInfo and post a screenshot of the properties of your media in tree view:
https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo

Many users are having issues with VFR. If the file is variable frame rate, use Handbrake to convert to constant frame rate before importing into Premiere Pro:

Here is a tutorial:

Shutter Encoder may also be used to convert to Constant Frame Rate:

Shutter Encoder will transcode to prores which although the files will be considerably larger, is a much better editing format...

Try resetting the preferences:
https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro/faq-how-to-reset-trash-preferences-in-premiere-pro/td-p/8236158?page=1

If that doesn't work, try resetting the Workspaces:
Reset a workspace
Reset the current workspace to return to its original, saved layout of panels.
1. Do one of the following:
• Click the Workspace menu icon and select Reset to Saved Layout.
• Choose Window > Workspace > Reset to Saved Layout.
from here:
https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/workspaces.html

If that doesn't work, try Preferences > Audio Hardware and set Input to None.

If that doesn't work, try creating a new project and import the old one into it.

Sorry guys.... one more thing to add. I have 2 sequences, each one a different filming day. In one sequence I have 6 clips & I can see none of them in static mode. In the other sequence (with a similar number of clips) I can see footage in the short clips (under a minute) in static mode but not in the longer clips. Very mysterious ... to me at least!
