Is there a way to NOT overwrite a clip when nudging up/down a track?

Hello everyone ! (sorry for my bad english...)

I open a new thread because I realize it's a different question... My problem is the opposite of the problem explained here.

I'm searching for an option, somewhere, to prevent overwrite clips when i nudge them:

SbAfNDe

Indeed, because of a bad conversion from AAF, I end up with several sequences with 100+ audio tracks, while the audio elements in it can fit in 8 or 10 tracks (they're just dispatched)... So i will have to nudge upwards a lot of audio clips to be able to use my timeline properly, to see where is what. But if nudging can overwrite other clips, i will make a lot of mistakes...

In the old FCP7, with this kinda command, the element stopped when meeting another one, there was no way to erase anything or to go higher than the clip which was in the way. Any idea of how to prevent that in Adobe Premiere? Something in the preferences maybe, which could lock the elements (and not the tracks) on the timeline?

(I'm not at the office, and I didn't remember the exact Premiere version, but it's a 2020 on a PC).

The 'nudge' keyboard shortcut only lets you move up or down one track at a time. So it's not so useful to move 'past' things.

I do move things up and down past other audio tracks routinely, without problems. But it involves mouse work, dragging the file. Not as spiffy as if you could key-short the move though.

Hello !

Mmm no, in fact i can do it with an all selection, i did it just a few hours ago. You have to create the shortcut yourself (i used alt+up arrow and alt+down arrow), because there is no key attached to it automatically, but then it works for all the element you selected together. And if you don't select elements at all, but just click on audio tracks, it's all the audio clips which move together.

Not sure in english menu version (I work on a french one), but it's probably "Nudge Clip Selection up" and "down".

Just near those commands:

Yea, the"Nudge" commands. Which work as you noted in your first post. They work one track up or down at a time, and wipe out what was there.

Which is why I use Shift/drag instead. I can go where I want, and without overwriting anything.
