ISSUE - Poor hardware encoding quality - Mac M1 PRO chip

The quality of exporting from Premiere Pro using hardware encoding on the new MacBook Pro with M1 PRO chip is extremely poor. I've tried exporting with multiple different projects and footage but the quality when exporting with hardware encoding is pixelated and blurred - the file size is also significantly smaller than the estimated file size.

There is no issue with software encoding and footage is as expected.

I've tried Premiere Pro 2022 and also gone back to 2021 and tried opening with Rosetta instead, still hardware encoding into H264 is extremely poor quality with file sizes less than half the expected file size. This only happens with hardware encoding.

I can't believe we aren't able to use our new M1 chip machines with Adobe software for exporting things to professional standards.

Almost a year that glitches appear absolutely everywhere and Adobe haven't fixed it yet.

WHEN?!!

This issue is really slowing me down on critical exports on location with client waiting. I'm glad to see this thread though to confirm what I was experiencing. Now if I could just change the default export to always use software.

I have found the beta version that I have works with the hardware encoder and it’s great. The main software is screwed up still to my knowledge.

I still have issues with this on both V22.6.3 and V23.1 with H.264 files running OSX 12.6.2

SW encoding is fine, but if using HW encoding I can get very files with very pixelated parts. It doesn't always happen, but enough that HW encoding isn't useable on my MacBook Pro M1 Max.

Examples of 9x16 files are attached.

STILL having these issues + additional problems with color space consistency.

IDK WHAT the developers are doing over at Adobe, but this is absolutely ridiculous. I just had to cancel a 60sec export (UHD/60FPS/h.264) because it was exporting for well over 3 hours and the time estimate to completion was NOT moving.

Color space issues were incredibly frustrating, using PP Beta (newest) seemed to have corrected the auto color space detection IN ALL AREAS of the app. However -now, previews on the time (yes I use LOW RES PROXIES) are simply not working.

I bought one of the BEST POSSIBLE MACHINES (M1 MAX 64, 5TB) to edit on in 2022.

Paying an insane MONTHLY RATE for the suite of Adobe products.

I'd be HAPPY to commit this much financially to Adobe, IF THE PRODUCTS ACTUALLY WORKED. But they DON'T.

Adobe has had HOW LONG to fix these issues?... instead, they've focused on MONETIZING EVERY SINGLE ASPECT and writing in DATA COLLECTION functions on users INSTEAD of making a FUNCTIONAL PRODUCT.

It's clear where this company's priorities are...
