Dear Adobe Team,

I would like to bring to your attention a recurring issue when working with DPX sequences between Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, which has persisted since 2019.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Import a DPX sequence into the Premiere Pro timeline.
  2. Replace the DPX sequence with an After Effects composition.
  3. In After Effects, the DPX sequence appears as:
    • A single still frame instead of a video sequence.
    • A black screen when imported into the composition.

Additional Information:

  • This issue is not present in the 2017 version of Adobe Creative Suite but has been consistently reported since the 2019 release.

I hope this bug can be addressed in the next update, as it impacts workflows involving DPX sequences across Adobe applications.

Thank you for your time and support.

Best regards,

Hi @Pai AfterShoot ,

Welcome to the Premiere Pro forums! We are glad to see you here. We need a few more details to try to help with the issue. Please see, How do I write a bug report? And if I may get some clarity are you trying to use the After Effects linked composition and in Primere Pro you can see the video but in the LInked compisition in After Effects it does not read that and displays as a black frame?

Thanks for submitting your bug report. I hope we can help you soon. Sorry for the fru

Hi @Pai AfterShoot ,

I am not able to reproduce your issue exactly, but I am seeing an issue when replacing a DPX seq with an After Effects composition.

Are you able to send a screen recording of what you see when you click that option? That will the engineers a lot.

Also, just checking, are you in a regular Premiere project or a Team/ Production project?
