Left and right button wont move in timeline

New Here ,
Aug 20, 2025 Aug 20, 2025

Hi all, would appreciate help as this is driving me mad.

I dont know how but the last few months my left and right arrows just wont move frames on the timeline, every time i need to move i have to manually do it by mouse or jkl keys. if i want to go forward just a frame, i have zoom in full and select it by mouse.

every time i try to use arrows the graphics and titles panel lights up on the top bar (mac)

whats more annoying is shift + arrow still does the 5 frame jump so its not even consistent in its problem haha

i have deleted, updated, redownloaded, reboot opened, cahce wiped and preference wiped to no avail.

would be over the moon if someone could offer some sage council here.

Hi Karl,

Have you tested with another keyboard? Let me know.

Thanks,
Kevin

Are you using any custom keyboard shortcuts? Try checking your shortcut settings under Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts to see if they’ve been changed.

If so, set your Keyboard Preset to Adobe Premiere Pro Default and see if the problem persists.

Also, check the buttons at the bottom of the Program Monitor. Do they still step forward/backward one frame? This can help confirm if the issue is with the shortcut mapping or something else in the project.

Hi Karl u,

In addition to Paul Murphy's suggestion. Under the Keyboard Shortcuts panel, search for the commands Step Back 1 Frame and Step Forward 1 Frame and ensure that they are mapped to the Left and right arrow keys. Let us know if it helps.

Thanks,

Sumeet
