Load to source monitor

Hi all,

I've mainly worked in Avid, but have used Premiere Pro a bit. I'm working on a personal project in PP at the moment. One of my most used features in Avid is marking a segment of a clip, or a portion of a sequence, with in and out points, hitting alt+c to load that to the source monitor, and then inserting that into a different sequence. Does anyone know if there's something similar availabe in PP? (I'd rather not have to insert edit points each time I want to do this). Thanks!

So I figured out that I can mark in and out points on the souce and insert that into a timeline with the comma key.

To answer your first question, I'm starting out in the timeline panel. As for your second question, I have briefly worked in the "pancake" mode, but it's been a few years. Within pancake mode, is it possible to mark an in and out point in one of the sequences, and insert that portion into the other sequence?

There are several ways of copying a clip or sequence section and adding to another sequence.

First, are you starting this in the Project panel, where you can set in/out points to either clips or sequences, or the Timeline panel? Then, have you ever worked in "pancake" mode? Or simply copied from one sequence, select another, paste?

Yea ... set in/out, drag to the other sequence. Very fast operation.
