Loudness Radar confusion

Hello,

I've read more about the Loudness Radar and I'm still a little confused about something. I have set my levels in the radar to be around -24 for TV broadcast. Why is it that the bottom number shows -19.8 but the ring shows -17? Shouldn't they all be matching up or am I wrong?

I think the ring is the instantaneous loudness value and the bottom number is the average value since the meter was started or reset. It is the average value over time that broadcasters work to but often with a maximum digital peak level of -2db. The tv station delivery specs should clarify.

okay well here is another question that has me baffled. I read online that the light blue in the lowest ring is sound below the noise floor. When I solo my music track that's where the music is but why can I hear it? Wouldn't below the noise floor mean it's not audible or am I misunderstanding what below the noise floor means? The music track I have is mixed with interviews to spice up the video but I don't want the music loud unless in parts with no talking

For broadcast the loudness is measured over the length of the programme. If you want you can set the radar speed to show the whole show, it will give you some idea of the comparative loudness of different parts.

Okay thanks,

can I put it on say 1 or 4 minutes just to see what the level is for a certain section of audio as well?
