Latest Premiere 11.1.4

MacOS El Capitan 10.11.6

Late 2013 iMac

NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2048 MB

THE PROBLEM:

Very basic media files - 1080p AVCHD now for some reason will not import.

The media browser shows the clips as question marks, "processing" and never stops processing. After a while though, two of the clips now show a thumbnail and are no longer processing, but only those two (of 8 total). Trying to import the clips that are still processing crashes the software, requiring a force quit, or worse - a kill command in the terminal.

This happens across two different computers and multiple drives (main and backup). It also happens within Premiere and Media Encoder. The AVCHD database opens just fine in quicktime. All these signs lead me to believe it is in fact an Adobe issue.

Anyone else experience this and/or have any solutions?

So far, cleaning the media cache, deleting preference files, rebooting, trying different drives / computers have NOT worked.

Thanks for your help.

EDIT: quick update: two more clips are now no longer processing. So its happening, just very very slowly (not seconds like it usually is, but hours). For what its worth, activity monitor shows pretty heavy CPU and Memory usage. Fans going full blast.

EDIT2: Rolled back to CC2017. Problem solved. Bug report filed.
