Memory issues with the most recent Premiere Pro CC update

After installing most recent Premiere Pro update (via the Creative Cloud app), Premiere systematically runs out of RAM when creating media previews of files. Projects that the previous version could handle just fine last week are no longer workable in the new version. After it runs out of RAM, it crashes to Windows desktop (and Windows displays "low memory warning").

I am running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit on i7-6700K with 64Gb of RAM. Adobe applications are set to leave 10Gb of RAM to other applications (i.e., I am allocating ~54Gb to Adobe applications).

This issue is happening for me too. Illustrator and Premiere Pro, just gobbling up memory and freezing. What is the current protocol?

Same issue here. Since installing premiere update, CC runs havoc on memory. Any way to shut down CC and only use Premiere ? Now I have Adobe CEF Helper, Adober Desktop Service, AdobeIPCBroker, Creative Cloud,  ànd two Java-node processes running out of an adobe path and all of them weigh heavily on the computers memory. Indeed, very awkward with clients waiting, and deadlines pending ! Thanks for a swift reply ! (Running Premiere Pro 2014, on a Windows 7 system).

Also having this same exact issue. This was happening before the update to the 2017 version. This started happening when the new titles update came out. There must be a memory leak somewhere because this is just awful. Using up atleast 85% of my ram. I originally noticed the problem when it started only eating up at least 50% of the ram and then as the days went on the it got worse and worse.... and it only took days.... just days.

Did you ever figure out a workaround? I'm pulling my hair out over this issue. It is the worst.

Adobe please help.  I've been trying to dynamic link from Premiere Pro cc2017, to Audition for 5 days. I'm pulling my hair out. I've tried every single thing but my memory is runny 29gb up to 30 gb on Mac.   It starts out doing the link ok but then slows way down and finally crashes. I turned off sleep on my computer and let it run for 40 hours straight very slowly creating the audition files and it still crashed. Now I've uninstalled, reinstalled, changed to optimize memory, I've got my project files on one hard drive, cache on another, application on another. Tried moving everything around. Deleting cache its still taking forever and it isn't supposed to work like this. Really 29 gb memory? What is up?  Help.

I did already contact them and after everything, they didn't have an answer for me. I ended up determining that a few specific files were causing the system to slow down a bit more, but the real issues is exactly what The Belefonte said - and that is Cc is hogging up all available memory when you run it. The exact same thing happened when I ran lightroom. My whole system runs out of memory exactly how The Belefonte said. It used 29 gb of memory  its insane.

The issue is Premiere - it takes up all available memory and is not processing and doing the dynamic link the way it is supposed to. What is up?

Adobe is there any update on a fix for this? It's not just Premiere, it's the latest version of most every adobe CC product. I've had Premiere, Photoshop and Lightroom all consistently crash due to running out of application memory - on a brand new computer (4K iMac, 4.0GHz, 16GB memory, M395X graphics card with additional graphic memory).

I thought it was a hardware issue at first because it was a brand new machine. Returned it, got a replacement...same application memory issues using Adobe software. No other programs are running in the background. I used the activity monitor and sure enough, within only a few minutes of using Adobe programs, will see that it's eating up close to 15GB of memory, even for light actions, like selecting a photo to import into Lightroom, and then crashing shortly thereafter.

I've spoken with four other friends who are running into the exact same issues with Adobe Products - one who uses Premiere, two who use Lightroom, and one who uses Photoshop. Some programs you can download a previous version - like Premiere - that's relatively recent. But for applications like Lightroom, the only previous download available is four years old (5.7.1)!!! And I won't even be able to open my photos on there because it won't support the new Canon file types.

Can you please make recent, older versions available since this is clearly a well documented, consistent issue with your software? Or better yet, fix the current application memory issue already? It's been over six months since just this thread was posted. We are all paying for this product and many of us rely on this for work.

I have the same issues with the new update Adobe Premiere Pro 2017. I only do text crop following the beat of my songs and after 10min of editing my computer run like an old dinosaur. I stop before I get a memory warning. I open task manager and my PC run at 7.60GB of RAM memory, CPU is at 1% and I only got 2 page open in chrome at the same time...

I run Adobe Premiere on a Dell XPS L502x 8 GB RAM, Intel Core i7, Quad-Core, Hard Drive 7200 RPM 750GB.
I run all other adobe apps fine, just premiere pro making my computer burn out.

    Hi AlexandreV,

Please avoid running GPU hungry applications and browsers (like Chrome) when operating Premiere Pro. You might get better performance that way. Reboot and see how it works. Better? Let us know.

    Thanks,
    Kevin

I've installed the latest bug fix for premiere pro.  I'm still experiencing the same Kern_EXCEPTION when I drag 4k MJPEG footage into my timeline.  The ram and video cards are brand new and pass hardware tests.  This is the only program I have this issue with.  I really am tempted to give another NLE a whirl after this project.

    Hi Harvey R,

I do see a bug with that footage but it doesn't sound like the same issue I'm seeing (luma clamping). Is this footage from a Canon camcorder? Can you try transcoding it and check the results for us? Thanks!

Hey Kevin, please see my comment toward the end of this thread. Even with zero other applications running, Adobe software is eating up insane amounts of memory and causing systems to crash. Many people I know are running into the same issue. The software is using as much memory as it can - if you have 16 GB, Adobe software is using 15GB+, if you have 30GB, Adobe software is using 29GB+. Can you guys please release a fix for this? It's totally insane and I'll have to switch to AVID or FCP if I can't get your programs to run normally, this is seriously interrupting creative workflows. Rebooting every 30 minutes is just not an option.

Just bought a new Asus GL502 laptop:

    -Core i7 6700HQ 2.6Ghz

    -32GB RAM

    -GTX 980M 8GB

    -Win 10 64bit

I had Premiere Pro CC 2015 installed and then upgraded. Both gave me extremely sluggish playback (even though at 1/4 playback resolution) with 4K files from a Fuji X-T2 and Phantom 3 Pro. Premiere has 26GB RAM allocated! On CC 2017 am getting low memory warning now.

I haven't had this kind of sluggish playback on my now 5 year old Macbook Pro with much lower specs and only 8GB RAM! This beefy new laptop doesn't play back the 4K footage any better than a 5 year old Macbook Pro!!! I'm in utter disbelief and wondering if after all to make a switch to Final Cut X or maybe Avid... Apple is supposedly doing good things on FCPX now and really optimizing their software with their hardware... Adobe wake up, right now I'm not getting my money's worth and I'm happy to drop my CC subscription in a hardbeat if this performance leak is not fixed!

Again, I'm playing back 4K footage at 1/4 playback resolution and it's so sluggish that I can't properly edit, that was valid for CC2015 and now for 2017 version as well! FIX IT, the community is paying good money for your product!

I have the same problem from few weeks. First week it was occassionally. I cannot work on Adobe Premiere Pro now. I uninstalled Programme and installed one more time. Programme is using 99 percent of my 16 MB RAM and kicks off my monitor. Last time i had "exception program" communicate (0xe06d7363). Don't know, what to do?

    Hi,

This issue has been reported to the concerned team and we are working on a fix.

If you want to rollback to the previous version, check this link FAQ: How do I reinstall Premiere Pro CC 2015.2 (9.2)?

These instructions are for version 2015.2, need to follow same steps for 2015.3.

    Thanks,

Are there any updates on this? We are having the same issues. We can't do our job!

32gb RAM 60gb of virtual memory. When we increased our virtual memory it took much longer for the issue to occur. It appears you have a memory leak with the most recent build(s). Have there been any workarounds?
