Mercury Playback Engine - Software Only looks better???

Explorer ,

Something happened recently and I can't figure it out.

Normally, in my Project Settings, I have always used Mercury Playback with CUDA as my option with my GTX 1080.

Recently, the playback has been odd. High contrast looking, blown out color/blacks for some reason. When I switch it back to "Software Only" it looks normal but I obviously don't want to use that option. Any ideas?

Below I attached "bad" and "good" screenshots. In Premiere itself, it looks EVEN WORSE.

Update videodriver or roll one back.

I did try this already as a typical "first thing to do" before coming here. Below looks more promising!

I'm just trying to hunt down another post from a user who had a similar issue. It was something to do with a setting on their Nvidia card software settings rather than in Premiere Pro ... maybe 'sharpening' or something similar. If I find the post I'll update here.

I'll be looking for that as well!

I tried multiple solutions and the one you were talking about that I ended up finding, and still having issues. I dont' think a full reinstall of Windows 10 from scratch will matter at this point. I can deal with it for 80% of what I'm doing but still want to know what is causing that on my system.
