I am having a bizarre issue. Currently editing a 3 angle multicam sequence on latest version of Premiere (v25.2.0) on an M2 Macbook. I am editing with a drive that only contains my footage as 576p ProRes proxies. All of the footage and audio is on this one drive.
I have placed my multicam clip into the timeline and it plays smoothly. If, however, I go into multicam mode to switch between angles easily, the playback lags and stutters to a point that it's not really possible to work. One might think that this is a speed issue where my computer for some reason can't handle 3 feeds playing back at the same time, but this does not seem to be the case. If I close out multicam mode and double click on my multicam clip in the timeline, the multicam will open in the Source window. In the Source window, all three angles in the multicam sequence play out flawlessly and smooth. When I playback from the timeline, however, it is still totally choppy and laggy. In fact, every single timeline I try to playback from, even timelines where there are no multicam clips, will be choppy and laggy. The only way to make my timelines play smoothly again is to open up a non-multicam source in the Source window (I have been using an adjustment layer).
This has obviously really slowed down my workflow. It happens across projects, so there's gotta be some setting I'm missing. Any ideas?

Hi Drew28761813vmll,
We're sorry to hear about this. Do you have any effects applied to the clips in the timeline? If so, please try temporarily disabling them to see if it improves the playback performance.
Thanks,
Sumeet

The only effect applied to the clip is an adjustment layer with a lumetri color s-log conversion LUT. When I disable it, the issue still persists

To help identify the cause of the multicam timeline lag, could you provide a few more details about your project setup?
This information will help narrow down the potential performance bottlenecks and suggest appropriate optimizations.

So my original footage is:
A-Cam: 8192x4320 (the "sequence setting" of the multicam clip matches this)
B&C-Cam: 6144x3240
The proxies are encoded at
A-Cam: 1365x720
B&C-Cam: 1092x576
The proxies were created by Premiere and attached to the original media. I use a proxy drive and most days do not have the original media connected to my computer.
