MXF files causing CPU overload

Thought I'd try and get this diagnosed...

Seems certain MXF (MPEG4/H264, XAVC) files from Sony cameras (FX6, 9 and Venice) are causing Premiere's CPU usage to shoot through the roof, and stay there.  Even if not playing anything back. Even if I then close the project, the CPU stays maxed until I clost the program entirely. It bring's Premiere's interface to a crawl, and sometimes it will spit out a massive list of "error to retrieve frame" warnings.

Inspecting one of these clips, I noticed that the duration of the clip changes depending on how you view that information within Premiere.  This duration also doesn't match what's seen by VLC or Avid. Thinking maybe the issue is related to this? Screenshot 2023-02-02 at 12.12.28 PM (2).pngScreenshot 2023-02-02 at 12.12.28 PM.png

Using Activity Monitor and looking at open files/ports, it's also clear that the file(s) with mismatching durations wreak havoc.  Not an expert, but most other files that are open in the project, and listed here do not go on for thousands of lines.  Seems like Premiere is choking here (and on many other similar files) for some reason.

The files play back perfectly everywhere else.  They also edit buttery smooth in Avid and Resolve, at least on my system, without having to transcode to ProRes.

I've tried unlinking/relinking, replacing media, deleting cache, reseting prefs, uninstalling/reinstalling Premiere, and everything else on the laundry list of typical Adobe troubleshooting. No dice. Any help or an aknowelgement of an issue would be nice.
