I'm working on a project that lives on an external hard drive. The hard drive will be passed on to an editor, but may be worked on by others in the future.
The project had been worked on by others before I got it today.
When I launched the Premiere project today, Premiere started building a bunch of .mxfindex files next to the original media (in the camera card folders).
1. Can I tell Premiere to build these files somewhere else (like .pek files)?
2. Can I delete these files? I don't like having them cluttering the camera card folders.

You can delete them but as soon as you open the project Premiere will make them again. But you can keep them as they are very small files.
YOu can set location in the preferences.
