My project is gone...

New Here ,
Apr 22, 2017 Apr 22, 2017

I am having the same issue.  I went to open a premiere project tonight that I have worked on many, MANY times on my mac.  Over 100 weeks in a row as matter of fact!  And tonight when I went to open it and work on it, the project file name was not available in the "open recent" menu.  Projects that I had worked on 2 weeks earlier were there - but not the project I wanted to work on.

I looked in the project folder on the desktop - the project file was not there.

I looked in the auto save folder - there was nothing there - it's like I have never worked on this project before.

I searched for it it - nothing.

Does anyone have any suggestions?  I am at my wits end here.

Chad

Buddha43 Sorry to hear you're having that issue, however this forum is for Adobe XD. You may want to post in Premiere Pro

Did you make a backup you can fall back on?

Did you do a finder search?

Different account?

No, I don't have a backup.  I have never had an issue before.  The project file was in the project folder on my hard drive. All other projects I have worked on over the last couple weeks are there, except this one.

Yes, I did a search, but if found nothing.  And no, I only have one account, so it wouldn't be under anything/anyone else.

I got to the point where I just restarted to build the project as it's a weekly show that has to run.  Even finding it now, over a week later, would save me a lot of time.

Now is a good time to develop and implement a good backup procedure.

Understand that, but it doesn't do me any good at the moment.  I have never seen/heard of project file to just up and vanish like this one has, and apparently no one else has either or they might have chimed in by now.

Did you look in the Recycle Bin?

Hi Chad,

Any possibility that you had an external hard drive or USB stick on the system earlier and the Project had been saved to it accidentally? Just seems impossible for the project to disappear like that - unless the media it is on was disconnected.

Thanks

Jeff

Jeff,

I wholeheartedly agree, which is why I am so confused.

To answer your question, I only had the project on my hard drive, not a external drive or USB stick. I make it a point to only work with files that are physically on my hard drive when working on a project so they aren't misplaced or slow down my editing process pulling from another source.

And yes, I did check my trash bin, but it wasn't there either.

I'm just going to chalk this up as a lose this time round and have a better backup system in place moving forward.

Thanks for any and all ideas people have shared.

Chad
