Hello,

I am curious to know some of your naming conventions when working on multiple projects for one client.

At my job I have a project for a client, which will be going on the third production shoot this week.  They are doing educational videos that span different financial/retirement topics.  As far as I know these productions will continue so I've been thinking of how I want to organize these productions.  I thought about creating a new project in Premiere for each production.

I've finished editing the first round of videos under the project name of the company.  For the second set I thought I should create a new project with the company's name followed by "02."  I guess I don't know if it's good to have one project in Premiere with various production shoots or better to separate them.

I appreciate your feedback and suggestions.

Thanks!

probably good to have a folder on source drive for company. Under that folder some subfolders for things that will bridge multiple projects, like logo, company graphic, intro music, outro music etc.

Each project should be separate folder under the main one, given a name that reflects the specific project ( maybe with date you got the assignment ).

    Company X (main folder)

    subfolders:

    Logo

    Graphic

    Music intro

    Music outro

    (project folder: )

    9-10-Education-1

Each project should be separate in edit program. At some point you may have to get into animation or green screen or other stuff, and those elements can be UNDER the folder ( more subfolders) for the one project.

Then your BINS will be organized in more or less the same way in each project.

e.g. Logo, graphic, music intro, and so on...

    additional info:

titles, voice overs, and unforeseen new things that pop up from client, are easy to add using the folder / subfolder structure. And it's easy to FIND when you want to use it again some day, or get info from the stuff...

For example, titles position and font from old project, to be used in new project, easily found and if applicable, make text changes, and SAVE AS the new project title .. in new subfolder...saves time etc.

Thank you for the reply, Rodney.  Yesterday at work I started re-organizing that company project file to use dates to separate the different shoots under a main folder for the company.  Also within that company folder I made subfolders for assests that will be used repeatedly for all future videos.
