I appreciate the fact that there are many new integrations with the new tool, and many more capabilities. But the fact that it does more doesn't mean they implimented it well.
I need a simple text field, to which I can apply motion myself, quickly like I used to be able to. I have a few questions, and I don't want to spend hours watching tutorials teaching me all the things I'll never do with the tool, just to get those questions answered. I don't have that kind of time. I'd appreciate it if I can get answers to them here:
1 - I only see animated templates in the Essential Graphics library, meaning I have to find one that's close and take the time to strip away the animations. Is there one that's just a line of text in the center of the screen that I can manipulate myself?
2 - The title tool seems to impose a Title Safe that I can't get around. I'm not broadcasting to a 1950s television - I need to place the text anywhere I want. Right now if I get too close to the edge, the text starts to vanish. How do I get around this?
Thanks - if this tool were well designed, then my simple needs would be pretty easy to figure out, as I generally know my way around interfaces. I have to think this implimentation could have been simpler.
Thanks,
Aaron

Hi Aaron,
Sounds like you want to make some feature requests. Here you go: https://adobe-video.uservoice.com/forums/911233-premiere-pro

Hi Kevin -
I'd hate to think these aren't already features. Hopefully someone can just point me in the right direction. If I have to wait for the update dev cycle to get what I had before, then this tool is worse than I thought.
Thanks for the help

I apologize that I didn't read your request closely enough. Let's see if I can help.
It sounds like there may be a small confusion between text that is created by automatic transcription and standard text. They are two different things with similar controls.
Sorry for the confusion.
I hope these responses help you.
Thanks,
Kevin

Hey, the EG panel is so different from the Titler, at first it's plain weird to use. No doubt.
But with a little experience, it's pretty quick for most things. Like ... hit the T key for a text tool, drag a box across the screen, double click in it, start typing. You've just created a text "box", and you can go to the Edit tab of the EGP and change placement, fonts, size, color, shadow, all that sorf of thing.
Doesn't take a lot of tutorials for the basic stuff, thankfully. And ask away, there's a number of other users here that have really spiffy easy ways to do all sorts of stuff.

Yep - The text tool looks like the ticket for the sorts of things I need. Thanks Neil!

Hi Aaron,
Here's some tips: when you create text with the text tool, I like to keep both the Essential Graphics panel and the Effect Controls panel open simultaneously - 2 views of the same title. The latter is better for controlling keyframes and timing animations.
Saving text pieces as a "motion graphics template" is a great time saver as is creating "styles" to apply to further pieces of text to maintain the same look and feel as other text in your project.
Thanks,
Kevin
