Nested Waveform not showing correctly in Premiere Pro 2020

I'm having an issue where a nested clip waveforms aren't showing the correct waveform. I'm using Premiere Pro 2020, this has only been a problem recently. And it's doing it with all my nested sequences, not just this one.

It is illustrated in the attached image. The blue is raw camera audio, the pink is a nested sequence of the same clip. I have included the video of them both in the monitor so you can see they are at the same point in the video. But as you can see the waveforms are different! Watching back the audio is fine, just the visual of the waveform. Why is this? Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks, Ben

Weird.

Just a 'stab in the dark' guess here - does this particular shot have a 2nd track/channel of audio that came from the (say) camera top microphone?

Have you done any modifications to the audio channels in your Project window:

i.e. right click clip in Project window > Modify > Audio Channels?

Looking at the waveform for the nested clip looks like it *might* be displaying either a top mic waveform or a combination of both microphones. Obviously this is not how it should display if you are only using one microphone ...

However I would experiment with modifying the audio channels. Particularly setting them to mono rather than stereo within the modify settings.

* note - any changes you make in the project window will not flow through to the sequence without replacing the shots in the sequence.

I'd be curious to know how you go.

Hi Steve, thanks for the comment. It is wierd

The camera only has an internal mic (it's a canon 1DX), no top microphone. I will have a try at modifiying the audio channels and see if it makes a difference

Thanks
