Noise in shadows - Not visible in Pr, but visible in rendered video

Have got a few clips that I had to shoot at higher ISO settings.  I'm assuming it's the higher ISO that's causing the problems.

In deep shadows, in the rendered clip, there's some blue/purple noise in some of the shadows.  I've tried crushing the shadows more and lifting the shadows with no effect on the end result.

It's not visible when I preview the footage in Pr.  It only shows up when the clip is rendered out.  I've tried both high and low bitrates, no difference.  Have tried both AVI and H.264, no difference.

Render at Maximum Depth/Use Maximum Render Quality on/off, no difference.

Useful thoughts appreciated.

Are you rendering out in Premiere or queueing in Media Encoder and rendering there?

Rendering straight out of Pr.  Should that make a difference?

It can, though I usually notice issues (especially when lumetri is involved) when files are exported out of AME instead of Premiere.

    A few more questions:

    • Are you rendering previews before you export?
    • Do the previews exhibit the issue?
    • Do you have "Use Previews" checked when you do your final export?

As a test, if you go to File > Project Settings > General and set the Renderer to Software Only, does the problem persist?

    Yes.  No difference.

If I turn off the grading in the Effects Controls, the problem goes away.  The grading that is applied is, essentially, an overall darkening with the shadows pulled down quite a bit.  Typically, this would reduce the evidence of noise, but here it seems to be exacerbating it.
