Hello,

This might be normal app behavior as I am only starting to use "Render and Replace".

PP Project:

Media: 4k ProRes LT

Timeline Seq Setting 1080x1080 1:1

Opened clip segment, 2 seconds, Rotobrush 3 (all works great, dynamic link working great.)

On DL clip in timeline, I select render and replace. CineForm with Alpha

Error "Unable to match frame size".

Render and Replace is designed to work with an actual video file on-disc.

You are using an Ae comp it sounds like, which is not a video file on disc. Ergo, it can't work,. though it would be nice if the error message was actually informative.

My recommendation is to go to Ae, export that comp as a video file ... to replace the comp on the Pr sequence.

So like the capture feature that is now gone, this is an old feature that should be removed as well?

I've never tried to do an R&R with a comp ... I didn't assume it was possible. Maybe it was, and I just never used it. I've always done as noted ... finish the comp in Ae, do a render out of there, replace the comp.

And in all the years of working with Ae folks, and 'general' editors with good Ae chops, I've never once heard of anyone doing an R&R on the Pr sequence with an Ae comp. They all either exported the full sequence with the comp, or ... like I'd been told ... exported a replacement file from Ae.

Probably why I didn't assume it would work.

Maybe it did? I have never heard anyone doing it though.
