Hi everyone, just updated Premiere and having trouble re-linking music files.
No matter how many times I make the media offline, then relink, Premiere still looks for the file in the original spot, not the path I've corrected it to.
I've tried using the Media Browser and Finder to relink, but no luck.
Any advice?

Try opening a brand new project, then importing your old project, then try relinking. Updating mid project can cause odd issues like this to manifest.

This didn't work, but I did mistakenly update mid-project. I'd bet that you're on the right track there, that the update caused something to break.

The easiest way to get around it is to close Premiere Pro and then temporary rename the original folder where the audio is, then relinking to the new folder and then rename the original folder back to it´s original name. By doing this Premiere Pro cannot find the original folder and is forced to link to the files in the folder you specify. Not smooth, but it works.
This is the way i solve it when it happens.

I can't do this anymore because I've already changed my file structure, so can't force it using this method. I'd bet, for anyone else looking into this issue, that this is a potential fix.

How do you re-link the media? Finder or any other file browser should not be included in that workflow.
If i have a file that is offline a right click on it in the Project panel and choose Link, or right click on the clip in the Timeline and choose Link Media. Then the Link Media dialog pops up and now i click on the button named Locate down right. Now the Locate File dialog pops up and thats the browser you should use to browse for the correct file/s.
So yes, Premiere Pro will start to look in the original file path since the file has been there, but you should be able to browse and find the correct file/s in the Locate File dialog without problems.
Checking Display Only Exact File Names can be very helpful when browsing for files.

I'm doing what you do. Relink via contextual menu in premiere, then locate button. That locator menu is the file browser in this case.
And, before you click 'locate' you can untick the box that says 'use file browser' - that way, a Finder window pops up and you can find your link file that way. I've tried both ways to no avail.
