That is odd. What you are missing is the name(s) of the untranscribed source clips in the sequence - Nico in my screengrab.

You can simply select the clip in the Project Panel, right-click, and pick Transcribe.

I'm having the same issue - I click on the Text tab but the option to transcribe (or infact any of the other usual options) isn't there. I've tried selecting the clip and the sequence, restarting Prem, resetting preferences etc and still no joy. Currently working off 25.1.0 (the most up to date version currently). Can anyone help?

The text panel has crashed. Odd given what you've tried.
Create a new test project. Add one clip. Right click in the project panel, and pick transcribe. Does that work?

Hi Stan,
Thanks for the reply. I've tried this and reset preferences again, whilst the correct panels now show up when I click on the Text tab, nothing within the tab is clickable so I can't create active or static transcriptions. Don't suppose you have any idea what the fixmight be or is it just a Premiere glitch?

Thanks for the response. When you create a new project, add a clip (do not create a sequence or go into the Text panel), right-click on the clip in the project panel, do you see transcribe? When you click on it, what happens?

to narrow down the bug, I have a few questions for you:

I have the same issue. I am unable to transcribe a sequence. I have followed all troubleshooting steps to no avail. I can transcribe clips in the project panel and source monitor but not a sequence or active monitor. I am using Windows. I am going to switch over to a Mac and see if it works there. I am working on a documentary with Spanish interviews that need to be translated and captioned in English.

Same on a Mac. Not able to transcribe a sequence.

I found clearing all the cache and renders, resetting preferences, restarting machine and then reloading everything into a new project (minus any graphics) seemed to work for me. It's a massive inconvenience but it seemed to be the only way I could resolve the issue.

Thanks. I will give it try.

If I understand correctly, you do not need to transcribe the sequence. Transcribe your source clips from the Project panel, then those transcriptions should show in the sequence view.
If not, can you provide a link to one clip that shows the issues? I can test for you.
What version of PR are you using?

25.1.0 on the Mac. 25.2 on the PC. (Going to update the Mac today. Both have the same issue.)
Yes, I understand I can transcribe the source clips. The issue is that I have a three-cam setup and a soundboard for all the interviews, and I never shut them down. Everything runs through various takes and small talk. Each of the 30 interviews so far is 30 to 60 minutes long. So, transcribing even the raw sound file would be a jumbled mess. Plus, everything is in Spanish, which I don't speak. (It makes for challenging editing.) I drop the three clips into a sequence, sync and cut them up, and transcribe the cut version if I could. I think my workaround is to render the cleaned-up audio then transcribe and translate that file. That's where I'm at now, in Audition. One thing I did see in searching for a solution is that if you transcribe the source clip then edit that clip in the sequence, the transcription will also be edited. Is that true?
Thanks again

Found a very good Adobe tutorial on creating transcripts, captions, and translations. I think I'm good.

I see your note that a tutorial has you set. And thanks for the info on both PC and Mac showing the same issue.
> It makes for challenging editing.
It sure does!
> and transcribe the cut [i.e. edited] version if I could.
That is the workflow that should work. Sometimes the oddities of particular audio files/tracks and their layer order can make this challenging.
>I think my workaround is to render the cleaned-up audio then transcribe and translate that file. That's where I'm at now, in Audition.
You could also just do this from your PR timeline: finish the edit and export audio only. Place that on A1, and see if it will transcibe from the sequence OR transcribe it from the Project Panel as a source clip. Once it is A1 in the sequence, that transcript will be the same as the sequence transcript you would have created.
> One thing I did see in searching for a solution is that if you transcribe the source clip then edit that clip in the sequence, the transcription will also be edited. Is that true?
Yes; but when you have multiple source clips in the sequence, it can get a little complicated.

Note that 25.2.0 now includes translating captions. I have not played with it much. (It has been in Beta for a while.)
