Premiere Pro Applying LUT to export that I haven't applied in editing

Hello!

I've just been trying to edit some Iphone footage with no grading at all. However whenever I go to export it's applying a LUT that I haven't even added in editing? No lumetri color no nothing, I've even started a whole new project file, imported all of the video again and it's still exporting it with a LUT applied that I haven't added.

The phone footage is from an Iphone 13.

You can see in my attachment that when I click from source to output it applies different grading.

Any help would be massively appreciated!

No, it is not applying any sort of LUT. It's just exporting it as an HDR clip.

Your clip probably has the HLG color space, a form of HDR, or it is a pure log-encoded clip. HDR is log-encoded, basically. Quite differently from SDR/Rec.709.

No, it is not applying any sort of LUT. It's just exporting it as an HDR clip.

They completely rebuilt color handling in the Pr2022 build, going from the previous Rec.709/SDR based color to a clearly 'agnostic' color base that does things based on the clip's color space. And the default behaviors for both timeline and export work are dramatically different.

So ... check that clip in the project panel bin ... see what the Properties are. I'm expecting from that device it will show as HLG. (You might want to turn off the HLG in the phone, as it would be much easier in video post right now.)

If as expected it's HLG, then right-click/Modify/Interpret Footage, and use the Override to Rec.709 option. Then make a new sequence from the clip, and from the Sequence settings dialog, make sure the sequence CM is set to Rec.709.

Then on export, use most any 'standard' export preset that doesn't have HLG or PQ in the preset name, you should be fine. And I'm including two FAQs on the major changes and how to work within them, and on how to monitor HDR if you do choose to work in HDR at this time.

Appreciate the fast and detailed response!
