Premiere Pro CC Crashes during navigating media browser or source monitor

Community Beginner ,

Hello my premiere freezes (Rainbow wheel) after couple minutes after opening. And stay like that. I have to force quit the progam.

Just by browsing medias, look them in source monitor and add them to timeline.

I got an Imac retina 27" late 2017

4.2 GHz Intel Core i7

500gb ssd

40 GB 2400 MHz DDR4

Radeon Pro 580 8 GB

OS: High Sierra

I got a brand new version of Premiere cc 2018.

It's an entire new created project (not an old project versoin brang on cc 2018)

My meias are .mxf file from sony FS5 in slog-2, 1080p.

I have no pluggin.

Nothing installed except safari firefox lightroom and Premiere CC2018.

I can run those on my old lap top without any problem, in full medias without proxy.

What is causing this problem?

I import via media browser. I use medias :

sony fs5 = xmf 1080p slog 2

and dslr footage nikon d750.

Help! I got a deadline. Just bought a new computer and brand new PP to accelarate my process but it is worst!!!

UD:

My data are on:

HD WD studio 4T Raid 1 (miror)

firewire 800 via

OWC dock thunderbolt via

Apple adapter thunderbolt 2 to 3.

I try disconnect all that and go direct in USB 2.0  port form the DD to the computer.

Same result.

I try with leagcy version PRCC 2017

Same result.

Now I'll try to copy my data on another hardrive  Seagate expension 4t usb 3.

I don't know what to do more...

Everything work very well on my 2011 boosted laptop.

UD:

I just installed PPCC2018 on my late 2011laptop (Sierra) with the exact same set-up and everything go well!! very well.

No freezes no raibow wheel.

does the problem come from compatibily between PPCC and high Sierra?

So PPCC2018 get a big problem with recent mac or High Sierra.

And now adobe are the only ones who can answer the bugs, first of all by admit it. Caus i saw lot of people with this problem on the forum.

michaëlp,

Can you try transcoding the media as a test? What happens then? Please let us know.

Thanks,
Kevin

Hello, i have 425gb of media data on approx 15 different folders, I don't have the time to transcode all that, sorry.

But if you want to take my computer remotely during the day or the nigh to look at that, you are welcome.I'll give you full access.

I'll work on my old laptop just beside so if you need to communicate I'll be there.

All those medias work well on my late 2011 laptop. on PPCC2018. on the same HD.

If we cant figure out what the problem I'll ask a refund, and soon switch to another software, I have to deliver edits soon.

You didn't receive any other bug report on high sierra? on 2017 Imac?

Thanks,

Micky

Sorry about that Mickey. That is certainly too much footage to transcode, even if you wanted to run a test, so I see your problem there.

I'm disturbed that your footage seems to work in an older build. Perhaps we can troubleshoot the Mac having issues. Have you ever tried repairing Adobe folder permissions? Set every folder Premiere Pro touches to RW: Premiere Pro CC, CC 2014, or 2014.1 freezing on startup or crashing while working (Mac OS X 10.9, an... Let us know if that helps matters.

Thanks,
Kevin

Yep. Still happening here too. My early-project productivity has plummeted because import takes so much longer now. FIX THIS, ADOBE!

Hello,

At which format you recommend me to trascode the medias?

UD

I have entirely re-install high sierra and premiere cc.

I always have my problem.

I would liked to install Sierra just to test, but Imac 2017 are incompatible with older OS version due to the new APFS format...

So I'm trapped.

Exact moment of freezing:

It's appear only when browsing media in the medias browser. Whatever is dslr (.mov) footage or mxf. So i don't think that transcode medias should change something...

Does my sequence settings could be wrong?

My preferences setting? Preview? Etc?

The software stay in freezing mode without any error message, just the rainbow spinning wheel... I really have to made a force quit, and of course it's mentioned that the premiere is not responding.

Please help.

I'm desperate...

Micky
