Hey there,
I'm using the latest Premiere Pro CC on the latest MacBook Pro:
MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2017)
2,8 GHz Intel Core i7
16 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3
Cutting from an external SSD which writes and reads at about 480MB/s.
I'm editing 4K Footage from a Sony A7III. When I just did my selects playback was ok but it got super laggy and unusable when I started to cut scenes together.
First it takes seconds to start and after 1-2 seconds there are a lot of lags and then the image gets refreshed every 2 seconds or less.
Any help? Shouldn't this work without proxies?
Shouldn't this work without proxies?
No. Use them. (Stick to the Cineform presets.)

Same problem with a new iMac Pro. I found out that closing all bins in the project window, saving and relaunching Premiere smooths things up. Try also to empty "Media Cache" and "Media Cache Files" folders in
/Users/your_username/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/

Hi Heikki,
Please post a screenshot of your Audio Midi Setup window and also mention the Make and Model of the Graphics card on the machine.

Try to switch your playback to 1/4 in the monitor
test one of your clips on your internal SSD not the external one and see if it makes a difference
proxies will make your life a lot easier !!! instead of loosing time scratching your head
on how to get a clean playback that will put too much load on your device,
save yourself and your device and sacrifice some time to create proxies next
to originals and when done, relink original media files... so simple and easy
I hope this helps a bit

Hey!
I still have the same problem.
I also replaced the MacBook as I thought it might be a problem with the hardware.
I use proxies, playback is on 1/4, it's fullhd material, lumetri etc. is turned off. Still can't get a smooth playback.
What is wrong? Is Premiere Pro going to be like Lightroom?
The must be a solution...help me please.
