Been using CC2015 for a couple of days now and notice it's using more RAM than it should, according to settings in preferences. After a few minutes of SD material playback it's used up almost all RAM in my system making it virtually unable to operate. Ranging from Blackmagic 480i/p AVIs to Blackmagic 1080p AVIs, XDCAM EX files and AVID DNxHD/Meridien QuickTimes. Does anyone notice anything similar?
Cheers!
Here are my settings:
And my taskmgr:
Specs are as follows:
Win7 Pro 64bit SP1
HP Z800 with dual Xeon X5680 @ 3.33GHz
48GB DDR3 RAM
300GB SAS system Drive
32TB SAS RAID on 16x2 TB Hard Drives
4GB Geforce GTX 970
Premiere Pro CC2015
Actually, someone on reddit pointed out that the memory leak seems to be coming from Luminatri Scopes. I can confirm this. Whenever I have the scopes window open, my RAM usuage starts to sky-rocket without stopping. As soon as I close it, the RAM usage goes back to normal.

RAM goes up slowly until maxing out without using lumetri scopes. Am forced to restart after about 30 min.

Wow, that stinks. Sorry about that Tom. Thanks for filing a bug report: http://adobe.ly/ReportBug
Any details you can give in the report would be most helpful.
Thanks,
Kevin

Hi Kevin,
I'm having the same issue as tommetcalfe. It makes sense that ram would be used if someone is playing back clips with the Lumetri scopes open. In previous versions, the scopes would only work when the clips were static so you had to click around to see how the readings were changing over the scope of the clip. In CC 2015, the Lumetri scopes now offer full-time playback readings, which is awesome(!!!), but will, obviously, suck your memory. However, I think after you have the scopes open and try to close, they do not seem to close. They continue to suck the ram memory even though they appear as if they are closed. Even going to Window and opening and closing them again does not help. Weird. It's really the only way I know how to describe what is going on. Restarting computer, program, etc...does not help. Changing playback to 1/4 helps some as does closing project and re-opening every 1/2 hour or so to avoid the hard restart.

Hey tomd78045904‌, I no longer have this issue. An update a while back seemed to have fixed it. I don't know how to tell which version i'm using, but it's the latest CC as of today, 9/3092015.

Having the same problem and getting tired of it.....come on Adobe....don't we pay enough for this software? Shouldn't we expect it to work correctly?

I just upgraded to Premiere Pro CC 2015. Big mistake. This new version does not work. I edit for a living and now I am not able to. Spent all of yesterday (and I mean ALL) on the phone with techs in India.

Premiere cc is a crap. I'm thinking cancel my subscription and back to the old version or back to final cut. Is not only ram problem, with the scopes, i have problems with little projects and with media browser, problems than i never before had with old versions or other software. I spend a lot of money upgrading ram and i tested with big machines in the office and the same problems.

Premiere pro cc should be called premiere no't pro, it crashed after open media browser because the ram gets full loading clips preview. The old CC6 work fine for me, the subscription has been a fiasco, money to trash and problems with customers. Thank adobe for a nightmare.

I wonder if this happens if you use the Scopes in a project? I'm trying to export a 10 minute movie and it fills up my RAM and stops responding. I have 16GB of RAM.

Premiere is using up to 68 Gb of Memory while exporting a 30min video, hangs the process on 50% and hangs other apps as well!
Used not much - some color correction filters - levels, fast color correctors, Magic Bullet (Mojo) on some clips, and sharpen.
Source video is .mov from 3 different DSLR's.
MacBook mid 2015 16Gb RAM
The only workaround is exporting by ~ 5-min pieces (still rocketing up to 55 Gb while exporting even 5 min.) then exporting video again without filters.
30 min prores export to h264 works without memory issues.

Hi Ardubro,
Magic Bullet (Mojo)
Since point versions are not mentioned as supported for this third party plugin, I would take this out of the export chain first to test. Can you try that?
Thanks,
Kevin

Thank you, that fixed the problem
Is this issue with third party plugins going to be resolved as a bug?

Hadn't turned on Lumetri Scopes in about 12 months since it was found to be the cause of the memory leak. Figured with the CC2015.3 update, 14 months later, it must be fixed, right?... Nope.

I am having MAJOR issues, very recently with latest Premiere release. When trying to import 4k MOV footage from my GH4 - something I frequently do with no problems - the memory maxes out during conforming, and I get a message telling me to close the program as my system is low on memory. I don't even touch Lumetri, so don't think it has anything to do with this. Then the computer just freezes. At first I thought it was corrupted footage from the card, but it seems to be something else. I reinstalled Windows 10 - a totally clean install - and it still does this. Other error messages pop up bottom right of the screen saying "cannot create buffer" or "cannot write to....appdata..." - very randomly.
Anyway, I am wondering if I should try re-installing a previous version of Premiere - is that possible? - to see if this fixes the problem.

I have the same question, what engineers are doing?
They should to fix this problem, this is a major problem.

jamesmarcustucker This is what I'm getting as well. I posted above that it was related to Lumetri Scopes, but I'm getting this with them turned off as well. Good news is that Lumetri Scopes MAY (Maybe? Who knows, no one from Adobe communicates much, and I haven't seen it mentioned in any of the change logs) be fixed, but now there's another memory leak error with similar symptoms. Sigh...

I have a new laptop with more than enough memory and a HUGE 6gb Graphics card and it is happening here as well. Basically memory is getting very near to maxing out (when I check it in Task Manager its going beyond 70% just conforming/generating peak files for the imported footage) and I am getting constant error messages saying "unable to create image buffer" and "MXF Read error" and "MXF decode error". (the project is a mix of 4k MP4 and 4k MXF). I have been advised to roll back to an earlier version of Premiere by the company who sold me the editing laptop as they told me they were aware of errors in latest versions of CC. However, I am near the end of a very complicated edit and this would be impossible as I cannot open the project in an older version.
So basically I have to live with Premiere crashing and HOPE I can get it finished and exported for the client. I am so angry at Adobe over this. I am seriously considering cancelling my membership and getting Edius.
