Premiere Pro Playback Jittery - Please Help Urgent

Community Beginner ,
Jul 27, 2017 Jul 27, 2017

My problem started in a matter of mintues, I was editing a video together and had almost finished then my power went out. I thought everything was going to be fine, I'd pre-saved my edit. But when I re-launched premiere pro after the power came back on, the playback speed had become jittery, like it was going too quickly or skipping frames.

I don't know how to fix it, I've re-installed premiere pro twice and it still hasnt fixed itself.

Please Help.

Jamie

Something very similar happened to me about a year ago. Unfortunately, there is no way to confirm that this is your issue as well but I will explain my issue. I was editing when a blackout happened. When the lights came on--the video I was editing was experience sync issues and had some issues playing back when everything was playing correctly before. In my case, the blackout corrupted some of my video drivers and some system files. I actually did a clean re-install of my video drivers and thing

Please check the playback resolution on the program monitor. Lower left side. See if Is on full. Try some of the smaller number options.

if this helps the lower resolution numbers won't affect outputting.

Next I would try clearing the preferences with the steps.

Press Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac OS) while launching Premiere Pro. You can release the Alt key or Option key when the splash screen appears. To reset preferences and plug-in cache at the same time, hold down Shift-Alt (Windows) or Shift-Option (Mac OS) while the application is

I have also already tried that along with completely removing premiere Pro from my pc and then re-installing it.

When the lights came on--the video I was editing was experience sync issues and had some issues playing back when everything was playing correctly before. In my case, the blackout corrupted some of my video drivers and some system files. I actually did a clean re-install of my video drivers and things worked better--but still not perfect. I actually ended up doing a clean install which fixed everything. So, here is a list to possible try:

  • Clean Database Cache in your Preference (though you've probably already tried this) Corrupted cache can cause this issue.
  • Try disabling GPU Acceleration. See if this helps. If it doesn't--re-enable. Sometimes turning the GPU Acceleration off and then back on can help some issues like this.
  • (Probably have already tried this) Re-install Premiere as you did before--but this time use the Adobe CC Cleaner Tool for complete removal: Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems
  • Re-install video card drivers
  • (Last Option) Re-Install entire OS, app and drivers.

Good luck!

Thank you very much for the help, all I had to do was update my graphics drivers and the problem solved itself.
