I upgraded my Creative Cloud subscription from Photo to All Apps because I want to edit Apple ProRes LOG HEVC files shot with iPhone 16 Pro using the Final Cut Camera app. When I try to import the HEVC LOG files I get either an "unexplained error" or an error stating that an HEVC-related .dll file couldn't be installed.
I've followed the instructions for deleting the HOSTS file, but it didn't help. I've also waited 18 hours to be sure the update to All Apps went through. The Adobe app for automatically removing HOSTS seemed to hang, so I opened the HOSTS file manually. It contained no Adobe-related content; I suppose this is related to the error installing the HEVC .dll file. After uninstalling and reinstalling Premiere Pro using the Creative Cloud Desktop app, the HOSTS file still contained no Adobe content, and Premiere still wouldn't open the HEVC files.
I'm running the latest version of Windows 11 on a desktop Intel machine with 32GB RAM, an RTX 3060 graphics card, and Intel i5 12500 processor. Premiere worked fine with the much larger Apple ProRes LOG LT files.
Is there another solution I can try - or is this possibly a bug hat will be fixed with an update. I need to edit those files. Thanks.
