Ever since the 23.0 and up version of premiere public versions came out it has been literally so slow I can't use it. Zoom in on the timeline then 1-2 seconds later it zooms. Try to drag a clip a short distance and again 1-2 seconds later it does it, but the Beta version responds instantaneously.

This is on my Alienware R10 system. 64g DDR5 ram, Ryder 9 3950x processor, RTX 2080Ti, Windows 11 Pro. Even when project is on M.2 drive. Disabled all other programs, and closed all windows except Premiere. Even with no other background tasks. I updated drivers on everything as well.

I can't wrap my mind around what differences there could be in the software versions.

GPU acceleration is enabled on both versions. Tried turning it off and on. Same result.

Tried with different hard drives, and types of footage and everything. The beta is the only thing that I can work with.

The public version starts off fast and responsive for about 2 minutes then it's to an utter stop. Same hardware, projects being used in both versions.

Any ideas?

Dear @Dan27407918zbpm,

Hi, I'm Kevin from support, one of the mods here. The team appreciates you filing this bug report.

It sounds like you are having trouble with your project's performance with the current software version, but you're okay with the beta version.

The product team may need more information, including your media type. See, How do I write a bug report?

Dear @Dan27407918zbpm,

Hi, I'm Kevin from support, one of the mods here. The team appreciates you filing this bug report.

It sounds like you are having trouble with your project's performance with the current software version, but you're okay with the beta version.

The product team may need more information, including your media type. See, How do I write a bug report?

You might try a few troubleshooting steps.

The most important ones can be performed via the Reset Options dialog box. Please read the tip below before engaging in the dialog box.

You can skip the tip if you don't mind losing customizations you previously made.

Tip: If you have a lot of customization, you may want to move the Preferences file to the desktop before launching the dialog box.

Preferences are stored in the following location:

  • For Windows: <drive>\Users\<user name>\Documents\Adobe\Premiere Pro\<version>\Profile-<user name>

  • For macOS: <drive>/Users/<user name>/Documents/Adobe/Premiere Pro/<version>/Profile-<user name>

How to: Press Shift at launch to see the dialog box. Here, you can reset preferences, clear the media cache, and plug-in loading cache. You can also temporarily turn off all third-party plug-ins.

Another step that may work is creating a new project and importing your old one into the new one.

I hope these troubleshooting steps help with the bug. Please let the community know the results of these tests. I hope the devs will respond soon. Sorry for the problem.

Thanks,
Kevin
