Hey all, Im on Windows 10 on an HP Zbook
Long story short, I can no longer import my raw MTS files into Premiere 17 without losing the audio.
I initially updated to 18 in order to edit on a file my friend sent me. But 18 was buggy as hell, would crash on imports or would progressively loss more audio from each subsequent clip uploaded, so I uninstalled and switched back.
Since going back though, any MTS clips I've uploaded don't include their audio file. Not in the project, preview window, or the timeline. Period. Dragging in a previously edited clip, mp4, worked totally fine. I tried using media encoder to turn all my MTS's to mp4s, but it didnt work. The rerendered videos had no sound at all. When I dropped them into premiere, it showed that they have an audio file, just with no sound.
I've cleared my caches, renamed folders, perused my settings, and even uninstalled premiere entirely, but nothing seems to work.
How can I fix this so I can import my MTS footage with sound again? I am backed up on editing work I need to get done and this is starting to give me a panic attack. Please, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

There is a new bug fix update with enhanced support for formats. I'd recommend updating to version 12.1.2 to see if this resolves your issue.

Hi SEQuest,
When you are working with .MTS files you need to import them properly, that is, via the Media Browser. First copy the entire contents of the CF card to the computer's hard drive, then navigate to these files via the Media Browser, right click, and choose import. It should go well after that. Please let us know how it goes.
Thanks,
Kevin

This does not work for me. I have version 12.12 and I can't get any audio to import.

After an update there is a problem with the files that are already configured with the AC3 audio, you should clean the cache folders and Peak Files.

After removing the cache folders, you should verify that there are no .sfk and .xmp files in the location of the videos, if they are found, delete them.
Start the program, create a new sequence and import again.
