Productions: How to fix a timeline that's full of clips with the wrong color space

Hi,

Our main workflow is based around Premiere Productions. We've got multiple editors working on a series of videos within the same Production. All footage is based in a single Footage project, music in a seperate Audio project, each scene has its own project for sequences so multiple editors can work on the same episode etc.

A few weeks ago, we finally updated our machines with the latest version of Premiere (including the newest updates in terms of Color Management), which kind of messed up our workflow.

As it turns out, not all footage (after importing into Premiere Productions) was modified to a Rec. 709 color space using the override option under Interpret Footage. The footage itself was shot on Sony S-Log3/S-Gamut3.Cine.

Now here's the issue: from the Footage project, all imported footage has been prepared on synced timelines (within their own seperate projects) for editors to work with. At this stage, we have several timelines which are basically locked.

Some clips in these edits are clearly not modified to a Rec. 709 color space. Some are flat and some are 'graded' by Premiere.

My questions:

1. Is there a way to modify the color space of individual clips (with an override?) once they have already been used in a sequence? Keep in mind this is Premiere Productions. I already tried to modify all the footage in the Footage project, hoping it would 'sync' the color space of these clips to the clips that were used in other projects.

2. Is there a way to export a timeline with clips that hold different color spaces (one flat, the other 'graded')? Once I go to the (renewed) Export settings, I can't seem to find an option which lets me flatten all the footage.

3. What advise would you guys give me? Am I really limited to importing all 'graded' footage again, modify them and replace the (now) graded ones?

4. Is there a way to lock the override option so footage will always be given the Rec. 709 color space instead of the 'wrong' one? Our timelines are being exported for grading purposes.

I hope I explained it in a way that makes sense 🙂

Thank you!

I think I found a workaround for the most important part: to be able to make an ALL flat export for the colorist. It makes sense if you think about it:

I picked up the sequence which holds the entire edit (including both flat and 'graded' footage) and dragged it from the sequence-only project into the project which holds all the footage (which I just modified so it would overrule the color space to Rec. 709). When the sequence is put next to the footage, all clips on the timeline are flat. Including the ones that would appear 'graded' when the sequence would sit in its own project (without the footage).
