Hi there,
Im tryin gto use Project Manager to consolidate & transcode a trimmed down project.
I have a 4K Pro Res 4444 rushes and want to use the project manager to create new clips from my edit with 2 second handles.
I believe I have everythin gset up correctly in the settings:
consolidate & transcode
Individual clips
Quicktime
Match source - Pro res 4444
include handles 50 frames
I select an output destination path
but on OK Premier immediately copies the original full length clips to the new folder resulting in a huge project not the cutdown I need.
Can anyone advise how I can work this out?

Do you mean the audio clip was not copied and so offline in the new PlumePacked project ? Or the clip was not even in the timeline anymore ? I don't remember such bug. Please contact us with bug report in that case, we quickly help PlumePack users and fix bugs if one comes. We have also improved the reporting and even if something went wrong (like a copy failed, a clip in timeline disappeared or whatever), it is now generally well detected and reported in the final report, which is not long to check.

The clip was gone on the timeline. It disappeared and I had to re-upload it to the project and place it where it should be. Like this.
I am very pleased with your responsiveness and activity in improving the product. This is how developers would respond to the elimination of their errors ) I don't use plugins at the moment, so I can't tell you anything specifically. Maybe someday there will be an opportunity to experience the Plume Pack again. I am very pleased with your response, thank you.

Do you mean the Project Item and clip in timeline representing the AE composition inside Premiere Pro ?
The AE project file (.aep) is copied and relinked in Premiere Pro (so the clip in timeline refers to the new copied AE project file), the media dependencies in this AE comp, are copied but not replaced in the AE comp.

And with another example, when a composition is created separately in AE, and then transferred to Premiere, I understand it is copied correctly. Right?

Not exactly. The AE Comp can be created separately in AE OR Created from a right click -> "Open in an After Effects Composition" in Premiere Pro. Both ways will have the same behavior :
The AEP file will be copied AND replaced in Premiere Pro.
All the media in this AEP comp will be copied but not replaced in this AEP comp.
So the result after consolidation will be that if you open the AEP comp (the aep file copied, or open the composition from the Premiere Pro timeline), the media filepath inside this comp will refer to the original media path. So if you change the project from one computer to another for example, the media inside the AEP comp will be offline in AE (and so in PrPro you will not see any clips as offline, but the image displayed by the AEP comp will be an "offline media" image). However, as all the media refering to this AE comp are copied in the new project, so you just need to replace the media in the AEP file "manually".
To be sure you understand here is an example :
Note : With AEgraphics files (also known as mogrts), the dependencies are directly linked inside Premiere Pro, and PlumePack replaces them accordingly without the need of an extra step.

Thank you for the detailed answer. Now everything is clear. It is worth loading one for linking on the timeline and the rest will automatically connect. There is something to work on to improve the Plume product. And it's so cool. I also wanted to note that the plugin allows you to save the structure of the file location so that everything is organized and keep the original quality without recoding to another codec. It's significant.

j'ai lu tous vos commentaires sur le sujet et je pense exactement la même chose que vous.
Je suis monteur professionnel depuis près de 20 ans, j'ai travaillé avec Avid pendant 15 ans et je n'ai presque jamais eu de problème de consolidation. Il faut dire que le fonctionnement est différent de Première car c'est à l'importation que tous les rushs se mettent dans un format unique. Cela pouvait d'ailleurs poser quelques soucis.
Depuis 5 ans que je travaille avec Adobe Première Pro, je rencontre beaucoup de difficultés pour consolider et transcoder mes projets. Tous les monteurs de mon entreprise ont ce même problème. Nous avons essayé toutes les combines possibles et imaginables pour le faire.
Je travaille entre autres sur des images de matchs de foot avec 4 pistes audios stéréo différentes et je ne me sers souvent que de quelques secondes d'images dans ces matchs qui pèsent environ 60Go. Tous nos projets doivent être archivés pour pouvoir être réouverts plus tard dans le temps mais pour consolider un montage de 1 minute 30 secondes, mon projet peut peser jusqu'à 200Go. C'est aléatoire car certaines fois cela fonctionne bien, mes projets peuvent ne peser que 3Go. La fonction transcoder n'est pas fiable et nous fait perdre du temps. Vous n'imaginez même pas le poids que peut peser une interview de 10 minutes illustrée par plusieurs matchs...
J'ai demandé à Adobe pourquoi il y avait tous ces problèmes et quand comptaient-ils les réparer. Ils m'ont répondu que tout était normal et que le principe était de tout transformer tous les rushs dans un même format. Je comprends le concept mais ce n'est pas ce que tout le monde recherche. Il n'y a qu'a lire tous les posts sur ce sujet.
J'ai récemment contacté Nicolas F pour en savoir plus sur PlumePack. J'attends la prochaine mise à jour pour l'acheter et l'essayer. Mais je trouve cela dommage, comme vous, que l'on soit obligé de passer par un plugin tierce pour jouir d'une option intégrée dans le soft de base.
Aux développeurs d'Adobe, je demande, s'il vous plaît, de faire en sorte de transcoder, dans leur format d'origine, les plans qui sont sur nos timelines (mp4 100i/s = mp4 100i/s + MXF HD 50i = MXF HD 50i etc). Changez votre doctritrine qui consiste à tout transformer dans un même format ou au moins, laissez nous le choix.
Je tiens tout de même à dire que j'apprécie Premiere Pro comme logiciel de montage.

Thanks for the feedback. It is very nice when users hear and see the problem. I fully agree with you on this issue. This is a really necessary feature that should be exclusively in an Adobe product, not a third-party plugin. I don't understand why Adobe won't improve its flexibility and rebalance in the new release. This is extremely important and I would use this function in every project, but I can't right now. It doesn't work. And these are huge spaces on hard drives that can be saved for other work. Hence the additional costs of hard drives and the infusion of a penny. If the product does not have this function, then the product is not perfect. This is my opinion.

Hi there,
Tried creating a sequence from a single small clip and then went to Project manager.
Picked same settings
consolidate & transcode
Individual clips
Quicktime
Match source - Pro res 4444
include handles 10 frames
The resulting project it created i is huge - 367 GB and seems to contain all sorts of unused footage and audio clips not used at all in the project.
Not sure whats going on at all f you have any thoughts..

Right now I'm struggling with this problem and trying to be heard by Adobe representatives here. Currently, this is a serious flaw in the consolidation, cropping and copying functions. It does not work, as it was conceived by the company's engineers. Therefore, employees can hear your request and help implement it in the next update. I remind you that this function is necessary every day and should work, not exist. I myself feel uncomfortable when I want to save a project to an archive or send a complete project to a client that weighs a lot and takes up free space on the hard disk. This is a misunderstanding.

I poseted about this problem back in 2022 but it seems Adobe have still done nothing to address this bassic flaw with Premier. Condolodating a trimmed down project is simple with Davinci and FCPX - why not Premier?
