For some reson my project panel always opens up on the right and not in the saved workspace location. I have to move it every project. is there something i'm missing?

I also get this behavior. Here is a User Voice bug fix request for that: https://adobe-video.uservoice.com/forums/911233-premiere-pro/suggestions/37521484-project-panel-igno...

Phillip's right, it's very annoying, but the project panel often jumps back to the left lower quadrant panel group no matter where you've saved it. Post on the UserVoice please!

Seen this often. The Project Window has a mind of its own.

Was this issue ever resolves? The Premiere Pro UserVoice seems to have disappeared and my project panel still has a mind of its own. I really wish Adobe did a better job with this in Premiere Pro because having a consistent layout from project to project is crucial. Even switching between different layouts sometimes closes a timeline or project panel.

Still does it even in beta 2026

It is not resolved yet but there is a workaround that i read about some time ago here in the forum.
The simple solution was/is to close the Media Browser panel.
Since i did that my Project panel stays where i put it all the time and never moves around like it did before. I did just open a project and opened the Media Browser, closed the project and created a new one. This time the Project panel moved to the same pane as Media Browser. So the Media Browser seems to trigger this when it´s open.
If you use the Media Browser you can assign a keyboard shortcut to it so you can open it fast and when done close it as fast when done with it. I never use it today.
Try it and see if your problem with the moving Project panel goes away. 🙂
