Proxy Sequence?

Community Beginner ,

I inherited a 4K project I need to drop in some new VFX clips. I intend making proxies so my machine won't stutter.  Is there a way to create proxies for just edited clips used in the sequnce, rather than having to proxy all the cam footage, even unused stuff?  That would really be overkill for this use.

  1. Select the Sequence.
  2. Choose File > Export > Selection as Premiere Project..., choose a location, and save.
  3. Open the resulting "_Exported" project.  Optional: Close the original project.
  4. Select all of the source clips in the '_Exported" project and then right-click and choose Proxy > Create Proxies.

That's excellent. thanks so much!

I also may be faced with opening the project in a somewhat earlier version of PP.  I have read you could start a new project and import the newer one.  Then there are online conversion tools.  Any thoughts, anyone?

There is a web based utility that will revert a project to version 1, but this is what is supported:

Backward compatibility of Premiere Pro projects

I have 2021 but project may have been created in a later version, that's what I am faced with potentially.  So jumping forward.  Sounds like the web utility.
