Hi. I have a client who sent me a picture file that is essentially an editable PSD file. I only have my subscription to Premiere because I don't need photoshop a lot, but I still have my PS 5.5(don't worry, I have a license), so I can still open the file. What format should I use to export this picture file that I would then use in the video I'm editing for the client? The main issue is that the picture file is words and one of the words has no fill, so it should be see-through in the final video. That's what I'm coming up against, otherwise I'd just export as a jpeg or something similar and call it a day but it clearly needs to be a bit more sophisticated. Any help is appreciated. thanks!
Jim is correct, but I typically use PNG with Alpha, so that I'm not dealing with a bunch of layers coming into Premiere, but just one file with transparency.
Another tip - in PS, scale and save the still image to match the video resolution, for instance 1920x1080 or whatever your sequence is, so that it does not need to be scaled in Premiere. Unless you are keyframing/animating the scale (zooming) on this image in which case you may need the extra resolution if present.
