Hello,
I just have a problem exporting 3 commercials using Queue. So, first send it to Media Encoder. First film ok. Second in the middle of convertion and the app closes. Reopen and let it finish the job. Second film export. Sucess. Third film the computer freeze. Need to restart my computer in order to get the job done. The third film has been done in Premeire. No Queue in Media Encoder. No problem.
First time in using Queue and found out that can't let it export my films without monitoring.
Why this happen? Does my machine couldn't handle it? The film duaration is 3 minutes.
I was exporting an 1920x1080 H.264 custom:
My time line was setup as Apple Pr Res HQ (my master export setup).
My footage : 16mm film transfer to Pro Res 4444;
Iphone that I convert to ProRes HQ;

iphone footage is usually variable frame rate and premiere has a problem with vfr. use handbrake to convert to a constant frame rate
Here's a tutorial that has some basic info about using handbrake

Hello mgranadier,
I think the problem may be the Iphone footage. When I was working with the 16mm transfer my playback was playing smoothly. Then this Iphone footage came to me. I was editing without convert this footage in Iphone native H.264. And man, it was horrible to playback. I mean, could edit well, but not smoothly as with ProRes 4444's 16mm transfer. A visible change. So then I convert this Iphone footage to ProRes HQ. I thought that would solve my playback issue, but I was wrong. Same problem as before. It was like I was editing a H.264. Going watch this tutorial you send.
Thanks a lot!

just about to get on a zoom call but quickly, it's really a question of performance. If you can edit the handbrake output without issues, stay with them. If you're system chokes, try converting to prores or figure out the proxy workflow.

fwiw, Editready will do it in one step. (thanks MtD). It costs something (about $50) but it also handles spanned clips, much better than premiere does. Spanned clips are where the camera records to an older format card that has a file size limitation of about 4 gigs so when the camera hits that file size it creates a second file which editing software should recognize and seamlessly combine with the other clips. Unfortunately, premiere has some problems and in particular if you're going to send your edit to resolve for color correction, you up s..t creek...

and allows you to batch process clips in a much more efficient manner than handbrake.

Thanks a lot, mgrenadier!!! I do have Editready. I bought Editready to convert some files from a Panasonic camera. It's a nice app. And have more options than Handbrake. I use to use Handbrake when I edit in Final Cut 7. Great advices, mgrenadier. So everytime I receive Iphone footage is better to convert it before edit. I did not know about this variable frame rate in Iphone footage Going to make some tests.
Take care!
