"Adobe Premiere Pro 2025.app” is damaged and can’t be opened.

A Mac OS error is displayed when I try to open PP: ""Adobe Premiere Pro 2025.app” is damaged and can’t be opened."

I updated to v25.2 last week and everything was working fine. Today it produced this error (I didn't try to use it yesterday). I am now updated to 25.2.1.

The error message appears a couple of seconds after clicking the icon in my dock. I have rebooted the computer AND I have uninstalled PP and reinstalled the latest version and rebooted again. No effect.

My system is:

MBP M4 Max 16"

128GB

4TB SSD

OS Sequoia 15.3.2

CC is fully updated as at Tuesday 8th April 2025, 10.14AM BST

Never had any problems like this before. I have not updated or changed any software or drivers beyond Mac OS and Adobe CC regular updates since it was last working fine.

Any ideas?

Thanks for your help.

I uninstalled using Creative Cloud and then removed the Adobe Premier Pro 2025 folder and its contents in the Applications folder. I restarted the Mac, Reinstalled Premier Pro using Creative Cloud, and restarted the Mac again. Now, it has opened successfully.

 1. Remove Gatekeeper quarantine flag

Sometimes macOS wrongly flags the Adobe app as unsafe.

Open Terminal and run:

sudo xattr -rd com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/Adobe Premiere Pro 2025/Adobe Premiere Pro 2025.app"

(enter your password when prompted)

Then try launching Premiere again.

---

2. Reset app permissions

Still in Terminal, run:

sudo chmod -R 755 "/Applications/Adobe Premiere Pro 2025/Adobe Premiere Pro 2025.app"

This resets executable permissions.

---

 3. Clear and reinstall Creative Cloud desktop

Sometimes the CC Desktop app is the culprit, not Premiere itself:

1. Uninstall Creative Cloud Desktop and Premiere Pro.

2. Use Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool (Adobe provides it officially).

3. Reboot.

4. Reinstall Creative Cloud, then Premiere Pro 2025 (v25.2.1).

---

 4. Run Premiere from terminal (to test)

In Terminal:

open "/Applications/Adobe Premiere Pro 2025/Adobe Premiere Pro 2025.app"

If it gives a more specific error (codesigning, missing framework), that’ll confirm it’s a signature issue.

---

5. Reinstall Rosetta 2 (sometimes needed even on M4)

Even though M4 Max is fully Apple Silicon, some Adobe background processes may still call Rosetta:

softwareupdate --install-rosetta

Accept the license when prompted.

---

 6. Reset macOS Gatekeeper (if all else fails)

If Gatekeeper itself is stuck:

sudo spctl --master-disable

This temporarily disables Gatekeeper. Try launching Premiere.
⚠️ If it works, re-enable afterward with:

sudo spctl --master-enable

---

7. Last resort: Roll back

If none of the above works, roll Premiere back to 25.1 or 25.0.1 from the Creative Cloud app (click … > Other Versions). Many users report 25.2.x has signing bugs on Sequoia 15.3.2.

This is happening to me too. I have tried to uninstall and also install previous versions. Still saying its damaged and needs to be moved to bin

After trying to open the app, open Apple Prefrences > Privacy & Security Then at the bottom in Security click on "open anyway" For some reason Apple thinks the software is corrupted or something like that

“Adobe Premiere Pro 2025” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Trash

Try a different browser.

Some browsers on the Mac have issues when it comes to downloading.

not the issue

Fixed it by uninstalling and deleting the application, then re-installing via the CC App TWICE! Manual deletion finally worked, reboot, fresh install, reboot and test and it works now.

I suspect there must have been some sort of internet error during an automatic update yesterday which caused the issue. The uninstaller wasn't uninstalling the corrupted app (I suppose for the reason that it was corrupted and couldn't correctly identify the app).

What do you mean "uninstall and delete application"? I have uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times and I still have the issue

This is what I did on Mac, but probably similar on Windows:

1. Use the 'uninstall' shortcut that sits next to the application file in the 'Applications' folder (see screengrab)

2. Check system thinks PP is uninstalled in the 'All Apps' section of the CC App. Premiere has an 'install' button, rather than an 'open' button (NB - my screengarb is AFTER successful reinstallation but it looks identical, apart from the word 'install' as opposed to 'open') - DON'T CLICK 'INSTALL' AT THIS STAGE!

3. Return to the Finder (file system window) and if PP is still there, delete it manually - ie chuck it in the Trash, then empty Trash.

4. Reboot the entire system.

5. Open Adobe CC App and click 'Install' for PP in the 'Apps' window.

6. Reboot after installation, just to be sure.

7. Open PP - hopefully with success!

That's what worked for me eventually. I had done auto uninstall twice and the whole reboot rigmarole too, but it simply didn't work untill I had done the manual deletion of PP from Finder.

Of course, there is an internet browser involved. How else would you get access to the CC desktop app?

Adobe CC apps download via their own app. No browsers involved.

Try a different browser to download.

I can't imagine how this would solve it.
