"After Effects 2023 needs to be installed to import this file" Error message

New Here ,
Mar 06, 2023 Mar 06, 2023

I'm working on an Apple desktop running macOS Monterey 12.6.3. The desktop recently underwent a restart to clean the disk. I've reinstalled the latest versions of Premiere Pro (23.2) and After Effects (23.2.1). I'm working on an edit in Premiere, and I'm at the stage where I would like to import a few title cards and lower third animations that come in the form of After Effects projects. Importing these AE files to the my PP project, I keep getting this error message, "After Effects 2023 must be installed to import this file". Per Creative Cloud, the most recent version of After Effects is installed. I'm not sure where to go from here.

Same here.  Have completely removed and reinstalled After Effects.  Mac OS 12.6.3, Premiere Pro/After Effects  23.6.0 on a M1 Max Macbook Pro.

Hey Brian,

I'm sorry to hear about this. Could you try creating a new user account and check if you still see the issue? Here's how: https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/mchl3e281fc9/mac. I'm suggesting this step to troubleshoot any permissions-related problems.

Thanks,

Ishan
