"Create captions" not working.

The transcription process works great. As soon as I click the "Create Captions" button, I get the screen below, and it never changes. I can cancel it an go back to the transcription, but can not get any further. I've tried resetting my Premier settings, and resetting the workspace. I've even uninstalled and re-installed. Any assistance would be appreciated.

This is a bug report carried over from UserVoice, started July 26, 2021 (I think version 15.4, PR 2021). When posted here on 1/24/23, it had 36 votes. It was one of various bugs in different versions that shared a symptom of captions not being created from a transcript. From more recent comments in this thread, I am not sure what version users are running and which of the various bugs they are experiencing.

I could not replicate the original bug, but I believe that it was fixed in the PR 2022 version.

If you comment in this thread, would you please indicate the version of PR you are using? And what particular symptom you get?

Screenshots are not carrying over from UserVoice (or at least did not so far). To see any screenshots, here is the link to UserVoice for this bug:

Hi, When i click Creating Captions its loading and never stops loading, so its hanging on, waisted over 1,5 hour to solve this. installed an older update from premiere pro beta but it does not help. Restart the PC not succesfull. I think its a cloud problem or server problem or code problem.

@mikeh96923458,

Are you using the Beta version by any chance?

Hi there, I'm having the same issue. I'm an experienced Adobe user but new to Premiere Pro (using the 2024 version). I've followed the instructions closely but after creating and editing my transcription of a work presentation, I can't create captions (the 'create captions' link is greyed out). I also can't do a manual workaround as the export transcript function is also not working. I have tried a new project, re-transcribing, etc. I will keep an eye out for solutions but in the interests of time will need to use a different program. It is very frustrating to have so much time wasted.

@elisa_0185,

Screenshots would help: all of the text panel, Program monitor, and timeline.

Hello @Michael Garretson,

Thanks for the message. It’s been a long time since you filed this bug. I apologize for not seeing a resolution here yet. A product team member has responded but has not yet followed up. Are you still having this issue?

If so, the team might need more info from you to reproduce the bug. Can you provide the information required here? How do I write a bug report?

Likely, this was fixed in v.22, so I'll move your post to the Discussions board while we await your information.

For others on the thread who are still experiencing a similar issue, make a new post. Unfortunately, this one has become a catch-all for generic transcription issues.

Thanks,

Kevin

seriously considering canceling my subscription because its always SOMETHING. We pay too much money to Adobe for these type of inconsistencies to always happen --- Ive been trying to create captions for like 3 hours for a ******* 30 second video -- ridiculous

Try in and out points in your timeline. It worked for me.
I was having the same problem.

I'm having this problem where it creates the transcript but when I click "Create Captions" it creates a blank track. I have tried updating the app, selecting In and Out points, using the Beta version of Adobe.

Using Adobe Premiere Pro 2022 (not sure how to check the version) on a MacBook Pro. I ran the System Compatibility and it generated no reports.

Nesting the clips that you want to caption then transcribing the sequence worked for me.

Work for me:
1- copy all track video
2- delete all track video
3- transcribe sequence and create caption ""press CC buton on painel"
4- after all, paste all track videos.

For me it's happening the same. The problem is that the transcription timecode is totally wrong, but for me it's only happening in Spanish.

It's totally critical to receive help and a fix from Adobe ASAP!!!
