"Create captions" not working.

The transcription process works great. As soon as I click the "Create Captions" button, I get the screen below, and it never changes. I can cancel it an go back to the transcription, but can not get any further. I've tried resetting my Premier settings, and resetting the workspace. I've even uninstalled and re-installed. Any assistance would be appreciated.
Correct answer Stan Jones

This is a bug report carried over from UserVoice, started July 26, 2021 (I think version 15.4, PR 2021). When posted here on 1/24/23, it had 36 votes. It was one of various bugs in different versions that shared a symptom of captions not being created from a transcript. From more recent comments in this thread, I am not sure what version users are running and which of the various bugs they are experiencing.

I could not replicate the original bug, but I believe that it was fixed in the PR 2022 version.

If you comment in this thread, would you please indicate the version of PR you are using? And what particular symptom you get?

Screenshots are not carrying over from UserVoice (or at least did not so far). To see any screenshots, here is the link to UserVoice for this bug:

Edit: 5/2/23 The UserVoice posts are no longer available.

This problem might be cause because you're using a firewall. Please try the following:

- remove the firewall on your device
- log into a different , firewall-free WiFi

and try creating captions again. Is it still not working? And is it not working for non-English captions or for English captions was well?

Also, does

The best solution so far is exporting WAV and doing the whole process on version 15 (2021). No way to make it work on 22 or Beta.

Love this feature, and I'm grateful to the Adobe team for developing this but I hope they fix it soon!

One reason why captions are not created at all might be that you are using a firewall which is blocking the download of the auto captioning model. Can you verify if that's the case?

@Hankyul Kim: Can you please double check that you have "Create from sequence transcript" selected in the "Create captions" dialog?

@1266076 Capps: that sounds very odd. Would you share a project file that I can look at?

Help...

I am having the same issue. I am on the latest version. Transcription works, but cannot edit or create caption at all. When I click create caption, it creates empty caption timeline. I am manually putting subtitles at the moment.

When would this be fixed?

I am having this problem too. To further clarify, Version 22.0 (which says it is up to date in CC).

It transcribed well enough, but when I try to create captions, it creates an empty caption track. I'm noticing that the timecode in the transcription is WAYYYYY off. My sequence is under a minute, yet the first line in the transcription says it's at almost 10 minutes in! I'm wondering if that's the part that's causing it to break when trying to apply captions. I'm also noticing that time moves backwards in the timing in the transcription. It's transcribed in order, but the time that it shows for the first line is about 50 seconds LATER than the time it shows for the last line in the transcription.

Adobe needs to fix this. Its amazing how such a big company can flop on the most simplest things. I've been up days trying to figure out how to fix this problem rather than do it manually. The thing is, I have no problem doing captions manually but don't offer an update/feature if its not going to work. Adobe continues to put out trash updates.

Having the same issue. Made a copy of proj, installed beta, tried redoing it that way... no luck.

I ended up exporting the .wav from the original project, sticking it into a new beta proj, transcribed it there, and from there was I able to render captions from the transcription. I then exported the SRT and imported that into the original 2022 proj.

I had the same issues happening since updating my premiere to the new 22 version. So i decided to install back the latest version of premiere 21 and it is working fine.

Please Adobe team, can you fix this issue in your newest premiere 22?

Advise to anyone having this issue, install back latest premiere 21 version and wait they fix this on premiere 22.
