"rendering required files" taking 45 minutes on a screaming fast computer [solved] (sort of)

Working on a multicamera sequence with nested sequences seems to be involved, but I used the "speed/duration" dialog and set "maintain audio pitch" to true.  I then waited 45 minutes while the "rendering required files" dialog sat at 0% forever.  If I hit cancel I could go to the timeline.  The weird thing is I can scrub through the tracks and hear the audio, so it is there, but I just can't play without the dialog popping up.  I then hit play, the dialog came up, and then I had to go to a Skype meeting.  45 minutes into the meeting, my PrPro suddenly started playing.  I could then edit again normally, but after restart the same thing happened.  Not having 45 minutes to waste, I started searching and from 2011(!) multiple people complain of this happening -- having to do with multicamera sequences, nesting, and/or? hitting the "maintain audio pitch" setting.  So I unchecked that and now I can work again.

Seriously still an issue, after 9 years?...

Just wanting to share this tip, and my frustrations.
