"The project appears to be damaged, it cannot be opened"

Please help. It also says it's "Zero bytes". Please tell me there's a fix.

You can try to create a brand new project and then import the old project file into the new project.

 

Do you have your project file on an internal disk or an external disk?

It was on an external disk. Nearly all the projects now read "Zero bytes". I'm unable to import them into a new project. I'm told: "The project appears to be damaged, it cannot be opened"
