random audio layers are muted (without mute button activated) since last 04/2018 update!

I updated Adobe Premiere Pro CC yesterday (April 2018) and started a new project with 3 audio layers. The first and third layers play back the audio normally. The second layer is muted with mute button being disabled. When you click on Solo button it works but then you have to click on all Solo buttons of course. How can I solve this?

I MAY HAVE THE SOLUTION:

I'm going to start by saying - I've never actually found a solution to anything before - however - I have a ten track clip - and am using a recording made on a 10 track field recorder that out put a poly wav for me. When I came to solo tracks there was nothing on several of them and some on others - couldn't fathom it. Checked this thread and despair filled me - as tech problems so often do. AND THEN. I noticed in the mixer, beneath the pan tool a button just to the right...

I have this bug as well. It's pretty insane that Premiere is that broken - you can't trust your project files when you open them. Typically unsoloing and soloing again fixes the issue but holy ****. This was devastating recently - some tracks just didn't export and I didn't catch it.

FRUSTRATED!!! Can't get audio to work in Photoshop (we don't use Premiere, but see that everyone has the same issues there). Yes, please add me to the list of complaints.

Adobe this is unacceptable. I have multiple machines with the issue. I can't do any editing. I haven't found anyway of fixing this. No soloing, or muting, nothing. I am dead in the water on all of my work. Thanks.

I am in the middle of a Multicam editing deadline and lost audio on all tracks except 1 and 2, it just won't play. I've tried everything. I am screwed. The project is losing time and money. Switching to Avid and not looking back. This has become the most unprofessional software and the fact that it's not fixed yet is ridiculous. I have used adobe professionally on all my projects (major film and TV) since 2013. Not any longer. I probably employ 20 editors a year across multiple machines. sorry adobe. BYE BYE.

I have updated to adobe's "fix" for these audio issues and am running 12.1.2 but they are not going away. Major audio glitches all over. Tracks not playing sound out of nowhere, one track plays and another doesn't, muting and soloing does't fix, loud buzzing all of a sudden that goes away and comes back randomly, VERY slow playback. Then it all comes back, then goes away again. These audio issues are also present on the export as well... and then are not. All seemingly at random. I have the fastest iMac Pro on the market this is a software issue and one that is so bad it has stopped ALL workflow on my projects. If this is not fixed quickly all of my business goes back to Avid, which sucks, b/c I liked Premiere for years but I literally can't edit on this anymore. It's non-functional.

Having the same issue.... The post house I work at has about 20 machines. This problem is persistent on all. In addition to audio not playing unless you solo/un-solo a track, sometimes the audio is garbled, distorted, and echoes.

The only way to keep working is to edit audio in audition and bring it back in. It's not ideal, especially bc you can't hear some tracks in premiere, but there are there and you can see and hear them in Audition.

SOLUTION: same problem except i just stumbled on this... In the timeline under the actual time the first icon is "insert and overwrite sequences...." check this on or off then make sure you have both a V1 and A1 in the column directly underneath that icon. A1 was missing from mine, i just clicked the empty space left of the lock icon in the A1 layer. Perhaps there is a hotkey we are hitting to toggle this off without knowing?

NO SOLUTION: after posting the "solution" comment below (which cant be edited?) I started a new project, one track has no audio. I tried the steps I had previously mentioned and they didnt work so it must have a coincidence before.

All audio in my project was fine yesterday, today I open it to continue working on it, and all audio tracks are muted somehow. I open previously saved backups and the auto saves, and every single one of them are without audio. All other projects are fine.

This is hours of work wasted!!!! We need to be able to trust Premier Pro and AUDIO is one of the MOST important parts of a good video. This makes me want to look for another video software. Please fix this. I have the premier version of CC only because of Premier Pro.

DEB- export sound to adobe audition and it will all be there. Rework sound and then export and put it back into time line. Make a duplicate of your sequence first to be safe. It’s frustrating. Adobe needs to get there **** together but this should be a work around.

I was so excited because there was a NEW UPDATE. So I stopped and went and installed it and STILL NO FIX!! This is crazy.

Thanks Chris Can I export all audio at 1 time or do I have to export each little clip. Some are very small. This was a huge wedding with lots of great audio? I have not worked with Adobe Audition before.

Deb - it’s pretty easy. You can export / link all audio at one time and all tracks automatically open in audition. Then you can save as multiple tracks and import back into premiere.

I had a similar problem. Tracks A2 - A8 were muted without the mute button being highlighted. Only A1 was working normally. No idea what I had done to ***** it up. But I clicked and unclicked the Solo button for all of the non-working tracks one time and it fixed the issue.

Same issue,
I cannot solo audio tracks in a multi-cam sequence. Only Track 1 is audible even though none of the other tracks are muted and I do see levels and wave-forms for all of them. The only solution seems to be to work on one track or purchase audition which I am not at all inclined to do when having my hand forced by what is obviously a bug.

Wow, they still haven't fixed this. It's really infuriating that we pay a subscription for this. So many of us depend on this software for our livelihoods and this is just unacceptable.
