Reverse speed effect issues.

Hello,
I recently wanted to try using the reverse speed effect on a clip for a music video I was editing. I've cut the end of the clip to reverse the motion of the performer, but premiere instead reverses the entirety of the clip so the reversal starts on the wrong frame. I can use the slip tool of course to adjust it to the right frame for where it should start the actual reversing of speed, but I have watched many tutorials and checked various settings and I can't seem to find where I am going wrong with it. I can't understand why the clip decides to start at the end and then reverse it from there instead of where the actual cut is. I hope this makes sense and someone can tell me I have a simple setting that is incorrect.
Thanks for any assistance I can get!

Are you doing a razor cut? Then right click on the clip and select speed duration. Then check reverse speed? I just tried this and it seemed to be working properly.

Right. I'll select the razor tool, right click the clip that was just cut and click speed duration, check reverse speed. Instead of starting off with the last frame from the previous cut clip it will start with the last frame of the entire clip. Again, I can use the slip tool to adjust it to match the correct frame where the reversing needs to start. Still can't seem to figure out why it is doing that.
