Rotating an imported image not working

I've been trying to use the Rotation motion effect on a transparent PNG imported into Premiere, but no matter what I do, I simply can't get the image to rotate. I can do every other effect except rotate. I'm trying to do a basic GIF but not having any luck.

Possible work arounds:

add the 'Transform' Effect from your effects menu and see if the rotate function within this effect works rather than using 'rotate' in motion controls.

Or try nesting your .png and rotating the nest.

Steve's comment is spot-on. You need to transform the transparent (alpha) of that png file. For some reason some of the Motion tools work best or only on "regular" video media.

... I've never not been able to rotate a PNG (with alpha). Constantly using them.

Neil - have you seen any logic to why this may happen. Just curious.

Thought it might have something to do with larger PNG frame sizes.

No way I understand the why ... just ... Motion parameters tend to be spotty with anything other than "regular" video format/codec clips for me. Scale normally works ... rotation ... maybe, maybe not.

But Transform always works. Sigh.
