Scaling with motion effect is not working

I have a jpeg image in the timeline.  I've selected it.  I've dragged the motion effect on it.  I've double clicked the image clip and brought up the motion controls.  However, none of the motion controls do anything at all to the image, at least nothing that shows up for me.

I can use "set to frame size" to scale the image that way, but that's not what I want.

Can anyone give me a clue as to why the motion effect is not working for me?

The motion effects seem to be working for pngs, but not for jpegs.

Does it work if you use the effects control fixed motion rather than the motion from the effects panel?

Thanks, Richard.

It turned out that was the problem.  I was using the standard motion scaling option rather than the scaling option that comes with the motion effect.  As a newbie, I just saw the word "motion" and assumed it referred to the motion effect.  Whereas, when I scrawled down, I saw the word "motion" again for the same clip, this time referring to the actual motion effect.

I'm still not sure why the standard scaling option didn't work.  I assume maybe it's disabled in certain cases when the motion effect has also been chosen for a given clip.

In any case, the problem is solved and I'm able to scale the clip.

Thanks again for your help!
