So... the playhead getting stuck bug, again - tried the previously posted solutions

So at some point last autumn I started getting the bug with the playhead getting stuck. I've tried the solutions posted here that have worked for other people, such as closing the Essential graphics tab, clearing media cache and resetting the workspace layout. Nothing's helped.

I haven't used Premiere in a few months (just a hobby user) and forgot about it but apparently, the bug is still present for me even with the latest update. Does anyone have any other ideas on how to solve it?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, mine was "lags and stutters during playback" as well. I tried this too, even switched my Nvidia driver over to the studio version. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the program. This morning I switched the Audio Hardware Device Class over to ASIO instead of the MME that was selected. Funny how it's always the last thing you try that fixes the issue, lol

Hi @Yossarian Hund (Göran),

Would you like me or another moderator to move this post to the Bugs forum? We can interact with product team members there. Here is the user-to-user forum which is staffed voluntarily your colleagues (and me, I'm Kevin from Support - also an editor). Full details about your system and media would help us immensely. I hope we can help you.

I noticed a couple other editors solving this by changing audio settings. Is anyone else on the thread seeing this issue personally or elsewhere on the forums? Let me know.

Thanks,
Kevin

By getting stuck do you mean it kind of lags and stutters during playback?

If so, I had this issue and for me at least it turned out to be caused by Nvidia G-Sync. If you happen to have an Nvidia GPU with a G-Sync capable monitor, check the nvidia control panel and ensure G-Sync is NOT set to "enabled for windowed and full screen mode". Just make it for full screen apps or disable altogether.

Might not be it but worth a look

It doesn't move at all. Sometimes it moves for like one second when I start playback but then it stops and won't move. The playback itself doesn't stutter and the playhead in the program monitor moves fine, just not in the timeline. Thanks for your suggestion, I tried it but it didn't help me out I'm afraid.

It might be time to file a bug report.

Check the Audio Hardware Preferences. Default Audio Input should be set to No Input.

Thanks for the suggestion, it didn't fix the issue but I will keep the setting as you recommended.

I had this issue, drove me nuts over that past few days, I just fixed it by switching my Audio Drive from "MME" to "ASIO". It's working now for me, hopfully it fixes your issue too.

Sure I can do that, but I'm not looking to report the bug, I'm looking to solve it.
