So when I'm in my timeline, trying to pinpoint the start/end of a specific word (i do this a lot), i have recently noticed that it takes a second for the sound to start up again.
For example, on frame X, paused, i hit the space bar to unpause it, and the audio doesn't start until 5 or 10 frames after that.
Repeating the exact same steps, still frame X, yields different results. Sometimes the audio will start right where i unpause it. Most times it will start later, and it is 0% consistent. Usually it skips an entire word or two before the audio starts up, making a task i used to do every day impossible.
It used to start right exactly where I unpaused it, to the frame, allowing me to time things really precisely. Now it does not.
What do?
I noticed this right after a recent update, so as a potential last resort, I could try to downgrade to the previous version, right?
To my knowledge, I have changed nothing else about my system in that time. Is anyone else having this obscure issue
Edit: minor changes for clarity
ah, it seems there's been an update since i started this project. hopefully that'll fix it, but i dare not update mid project.

I've not noticed this behavior in 2017.1.2.

Always test updates/upgrades on a second machine. (You get two activations.)

Are all of the files conformed? (No blue progress bar on the lower right side.)

Yep, been conformed for days, and it's happening even after the program has been running for hours. It's the only thing I have running, too. I'm gonna try to disable the video layer, monitor system temperature, and use a much shorter timeline. I'll update if any of that changes it.
