Spinning wheel/freeze after almost every edit I make

After every edit I make I get the spinning wheel for 5-30 seconds. This includes switching to another sequence, making a simple cut, changing audio levels, etc. This is very annoying!
I'm working with proxies at a 1/4 resolution preview. I've updated my graphics driver and Premiere, and I'm working off of the internal media drive, and I'm on version 15.4.1. 🤔

I've also watched a few YouTube tutorials on optimizing performance in case I was forgetting something basic. All those basic boxes are checked.

Sorry for your issue.

Have you tried clearing the media cache and resettig the preferences of Premiere Pro?

Just an update on this old thread since someone just commented. Nothing worked. I continued to have this intermittent problem for another year before I made my switch to DaVinci Resolve, which is much better!
