stroke a path in an adjustment layer

Is there a way to stroke a path in an adjustment layer?

I know that I can make a shape instead but shapes wont track, whereas paths will.  I did work out a way of doing it using a couple of lumetri effects with paths on them but it was clunky. Wondered if there was a simpler way?

I'm thinking After Effects is the better tool here.

I prefer keeping it in prem if I can.

I had another fiddle yesterday and this is what I came up with:

Adjustment layer:

Add lumetri effect. Create path, track and invert

Copy path to adjustment layer. Set to non-inverted and expand

tweak expansion of both to grow or shrink stroke thickness.

I created a preset with all that in description so I dont have to store it in brain!
